That song is awesome.

Hello. I thought I’d update you on my life after the 12 years or so I’ve been gone. It’s been that long, hasn’t it? I’m going off to the University of Texas at Dallas. They are very well respected, and they’re connected to about every tech company in the world. In fact, the university was started as a research facility for Texas Instruments. I’m going into computer science, programming, and my goal is to work for NASA, or to work for Valve. Of course those are insanely hard to get into, but its a nice goal to have.
More importantly, though, is the fact that I managed to get a full ride to a school thats ranked that highly. Just knowing I can graduate from there without any debt takes so much stress off my shoulder. Now all I have to do is keep my grades up.

So, I thought I’d post a lot of songs I’ve done over the forever I’ve been gone:

And I made some collabs with Starwars before he left on his adventure:

Okay, that’s all I have to say. See you guys in another 12.

Good to see that you’re doing well! I know nothing of any good scholarships, and I’m actually curious as to how you managed to get such a prestigious offer. But more importantly, I wish you luck!

I’ve heard your songs before, really good! I’m disappointed you don’t make more.

Step 1) Do really good on the SAT, as in a few hundred points above the schools average (where UTD has the highest scores of any uni in texas.)
Step 2) Apply to a uni that hands out scholarships like candy.
Step 3) Visit that Uni, talk to a financial aid counselor who doesn’t know as much as he should, and ask him a really hard question. Make sure he sends you to the dean of the uni to ask the question again.
Step 4) Get the dean to realize you’re also considering ivy leagues etc.
Step 5)???
Step 6) Profit!
I got really lucky there.

Anyways, I do make lots of music. Much more than I post to youtube, in fact. Its just as time has gone, I’ve become more and more picky about what I consider good enough to upload. Its why I uploaded that one compilation of my orchestral music, they just aren’t good enough to get their own videos.

I feel the same way. Over the years, I have become very picky about what I make public or what I intend to finish. I sometimes scrap an entire project if I do something wrong. It’s kind of silly, honestly.

I’m thinking of applying to NYU, Berkely, and a whole slew of colleges on/near the east and west coasts, as my practice is more suitable in those areas. I pretty much refuse to go to college anywhere in LA, though. What would you consider a good score on the SAT? I went in without studying at all aside from the SAT question of the day and got a 1750, and I had a rubbish prompt to write about. If I had a better prompt I could have easily have scored at least 100 points higher, I’m convinced. I’m taking it again in May or June, shooting for 1850 at the lowest. Mainly because I know I can easily obtain that score.

Okay, let me tell you know, colleges do not care about the writing score. It just does not matter to them. I made a 500 on that, they never even looked at it. Heck, Cornell, a freaking Ivy League where the average writing score is somewhere in the 700s easily, doesn’t even post their writing scores that the freshman made. On the other hand, the math score and reading score are very important. I made a 740 on the math, so thats one of the biggest reasons I got my full ride (plus $2000 stipend a year to spend on whatever). You should aim for a 1400 on the math+reading at least. I made a 1390, the average score for the scholarship was a 1440. I pretty much got it because I wa going into engineering, but wrote my essay about piano, and of course talking to the dean.
If you do count the writing, I would have made an 1890, which is insanely low for a full ride scholarship XD

Okay, checking the 25th to 75h percentiles of berkeley:
Math:630-770
Reading:590-720
writing:620-750

So, yeah, you need to get about a 1400 just to make sure you’re getting IN to Berkeley.

I was thinking of applying, but I doubt I’d get in :stuck_out_tongue: I’m mostly shooting for NYU because it’s in that big city area that I want to be in, offers a lot for audio engineering, and also offers German course to minor/major in. Big plus. I think I got a 610 on math and reading, but I’m waiting for the sheet that tells me what I did wrong so I can solidify what I’m lacking in. I’m sure I just made a bunch of really dumb mistakes, I’m very prone to that.

Also, my prompt was something along the lines of, ā€œIf one achieves their goals, will they be dissatisfied?ā€

Seriously, what the hell was I supposed to even do with that.

hey guitarskills, i hope you make more notessimo songs, i never saw you on the drawing table for a long time, please make some more great songs, Your Memory Garden was awesome!

Here: https://bigfuture.collegeboard.org/college-university-search/new-york-university
If you click on ā€œapplyingā€ and then SAT and ACT scores, you’ll see that the average at NYU is close to 670 on both math and reading, so try to get your scores up to their at least. You’ll also notice they only accept 35% of their applicants, so you should really aim for those scores.

I probably won’t play with Notessimo again, its just missing so many features I need to write music. Thanks for listening to my music, though.

EDIT: Actually, I might attempt a song on here…

starts using Notessimo
Notessimo crashes 10 minutes into writing
Oh, well I don’t remember Notessimo having this bug…

I never get that bug, though I don’t write on this site that often anymore anyways. Getting my scores up will definitely be no challenge to me, I only took it this first time to see what I’m up against rather than actually try too hard. I did try though, but I didn’t go all-in. I know someone who got a 2120 though, and I’m just in awe.

I know someone who made a 2330 on his first try. Stupid valedictorians…

Man, there are so many features I need to add to Notessimo.

Too bad we aren’t admins. It’d be cool if Starburst got someone on the job who would actually do it?
Edit: 2330? That’s insane! I wish I was that good at testing.

So, I guess I’m working on something now!
