Metal Thread

Yes, I agree. And this sounds more like rock. Not metal.

id say its close to the edge of metal so I get why its here but yeah more rock

now that you mention it, it does sound like dream theater. sort of a prog. song. guess we’ll need a thread for that now

Well, now that the share bug has been swatted, I can now share my best arrangement yet! (IMO) I got it to sound perfectly, except for the drums, which I improvised off the top of my head, but the guitar and bass are practically spot on. Also, the twist here is that I added in some tasteful strings, organs, and keyboards, giving the song a cool, wintry vibe, more in line with the Swedish power metal band, Stratovarius, as opposed to the summery vibe of Iron Maiden’s original version. Enjoy! ^^

This should be featured! NAO!!!

I agree 102% Kamarai.
That was amazing, I loved the twist you added to it.
The guitar in the solo should be louder though, I could barely hear it, but I’m still giving it 5/5+featured.

That was great! 5/5

Kd, just to say, the Home page is littered with featured songs. I say only feature six or eight at a time, because featured songs are meant to be new, not all-time. If you want all the best songs like maybe the top 10, you could make a new topic with them.

But I’ve learned so many new songs with these 70 featured songs!

I’m not the only one who controls what songs get featured, y’know. But I agree, we should limit it… just a bit, like 10 or 15.

You guys fail at music theory…
I’m taking a music theory, and ‘power chords’, or parallel perfect fifths aren’t even allowed in music we have to write for that class. They ‘weaken’ the song. I don’t personally have a problem with them, but I must say, you should be experienced with them before using them, or your songs with just drone on when there’s so many ‘power chords’.

power chords are in almost every single rock song known to man kind. the Smoke on the Water riff? Power chords. Iron Man? Power chords. Master of puppets? Power chords.

I know. I don’t mind power chords all that much, but I mean… You didn’t know what chords were? I suppose you know nothing about chord progressions either. Or what a major triad and a minor triad are. I just learned the stuff from musictheory.net so my songs wouldn’t sound so bleak. Yes, sure, a lot of rock songs are power chords, but that’s because it’s really low, and wen there’s really low notes, the recommended thing to do is either fifths or octaves. You are supposed to always have the third of the triad.
A triad (Tri as in three) consists of three notes. There’s four commonly used triads. Major, minor, augmented, and diminished. Mostly major and minor. A major triad has a major third from the bottom note to the middle note, and a perfect fifth from the bottom note to the top note of the triad. A minor triad has a minor third from the bottom note to the middle note, and a perfect fifth from the bottom note to the top note. Now that you know the triads, all you need to do is make them separate, say for bass, you put a C. Assuming you’re in root position, the other notes you need for a C major triad are E and G. If it is to be a minor triad it’s Eb and G.
I could go on and on, but I really suggest learning some music theory if all you knew how to do was power chords. I’m arpeggiating stuff like a mad man in most of my songs.

Well we need it in multiples of four for the old style (three for the new style if it gets changed). I think 10 or 15 is a bit too much, as it doesn’t really make your song feel “special” when it’s up there. Eight (or six for the beta style) is perfect. Not as little that the songs only appear for a few days, and not too much to feel like a group of good random songs.

Well I’ve got some theory, I’m grade 6+.

That’s because power chords only work for guitars.

Of course I know what the different chords are! Way to insult me! Im in piano! we have to write songs in there! and I don’t arpeggiate with software. My teacher calls me the Arpeggio King :D probably becuase I can play them faster than her.

Plus, Im the one that first mentioned Musictheory.net here…

and you made it sound so complicated just to explain a major chord :)

I now know how Starwars felt. I’m sorry!

PS: I yelled at an adult… I fell so accomplished!

I learned that stuff in, like, two days, yo.

Do I get a cookie?

i learned it in 2 seconds by reading a chord chart with a paragraph on the back. WHAT NOA? (pwnd)

Hangs head in shame
