where in the book of rock songs did it say “you have to have chords in a song.”
It might not have been in the book of rock, but it did say it in the book of music
I don’t think Nuse meant lacking in that way (they way you have taken it is that they don’t exist, whereas Nuse more likely means they are buried a little too deep behind dissonant notes).
You most certainly don’t have to use chords in a song to establish a chord pattern, sheet 0 is a good example of a basic chord progression, Am-G-Am-G-F. But because the notes are all arpeggios, the chords themselves aren’t very well presented to the listener, especially in the later sheets that seem to follow a progression but are also random enough to not follow one. It can be confusing.
Yeah, I could hardly hear the chords. But I do kinda think songs should have chords, otherwise it sounds a bit flat (please someone prove me wrong!)

Shh, no one tell my mom this, but I actually procrastinated and rushed on another of her songs! -gasp-
I’ll be remaking this with more fluent transitions and well, a better solo. [Jesus that was a crappy solo].
But uh, yeah. I need to get some sleep.
