I thought it was great actually. The sections all worked well. None of the instruments were overpowering, and you didn’t make the mistake of loading the sheet up with instruments and not realising that it doesn’t harmonise at all (seriously, work on that. Unless you’re past that, in which case, well done).

I think if I was going to give it a rating out of 5, I’d have to give it a 4. I think the main problem is that some people on this forum, when composing a song, tend to stick to the same chords for the whole song. For example, you basically copied sheet 0 on to every sheet, then built the song around that. Don’t be afraid to mix it up a little. Throw in a chorus, interlude, solo, whatever, but make sure it’s somehow different to anything you’ve previously done.

What I like to do is to make one phrase, and make it a verse, take another completely different phrase, and make it a chorus, and challenge myself to join it up somehow. Actually, one time I came up with two pretty crap riffs, joined it up, and ended up loving the transition! The point is, if you come up with different sounding sections, people will get less bored because of the variety. Say, you listen to a song that goes C D E | C D E | C D E, people will get tired of the C D E section a lot quicker than if it’s mixed with a song that goes, say, C D E | C D A | A F G (btw, they’re just random notes, I don’t actually know what that sounds like : P). So, say, if a section becomes boring after three listens (it doesn’t really, but that’s another longer, more boring theory), people would listen to the first song once, but the second song three times. I hope that makes sense.

No offense or anything, but after listening to that song, I thought to myself, “did I just listen to the same thing over and over?” The different instrument riffs keep the song interesting, but you could up your game a little if you added different sections with different scales, rhythms, etc.

I’m going to assume you didn’t bother to read that (I probably wouldn’t) and give you a TL;DR version: 4/5, mix up the scales/sections in your songs a little, I’m a boring music nazi doucheface.

Yes, I copied sheet 0. I loved it so much I’m not sure about sticking a chorus in there, I tend to stay away from those things. I could probably throw in a solo or two.

Yes, you just heard the same thing over and over. It’s ambient But yeah, I’ll remember the scales and rhythms thing.
