Words that shouldn’t be swear words:
Shit/Bullshit-just another word for poop, what’s so wroing about that?
Damn-another word for condemn, again, nothing wrong with that (as long as God is not in front)
Hell-ok this one is just playing obvious. If heaven isn’t a swear word, why the hell should hell be one?
Words that definitely are swear words: (WARNING, I will spell out the words for this demonstration so please no one get offended)
Nigger-let’s face it, if you’re using this word, you probably should not leave the house. By far the most offensive word and should never be used period. However, this word has lost some of it’s meaning over time, because by definition this word does not only pertain to blacks. The original definition of this word is a deliberate attempt at offending someone who is of a different race, class, gender, whatever, by trying to say they are lower than you. Of course the world today has narrowed it down to just one race, but in reality this word is for more demeaning than what people think.
Fuck-obviously a more derogatory word for sex. As people could get offended by someone talking about sex, they can also get affended if an F-Bomb gets thrown out. It’s best not to use this word out in public, but as long as you and your buddies don’t care, I see no problem.
Bitch-A word that can be mistaken for a word that shouldn’t be a swear word, but in reality should be conidered offensive, especially when referring to a female. As the word means a female dog, you might as well just call a female a dog because that’s pretty much what you’re doing. When saying “Son of a Bitch,” now you’ve gone on and offended his mother, which is probably worse yet. Definitely shouldn’t try to use this too much unless again with close friends.
Other sexually oriented words (Cunt, Dick, Blowjob, etc.)-obviously can be extremely offensive around the wrong people. I’d treat these about the same as the word “fuck.”
Words that should be considered swear words, but are not:
There’s really not a particular here so I’m just going to sum this up in a small paragraph. Any words/phrases that pertain to using the Lord’s name in vein really should be swear words, but because of society those words/phrases are used in such a careless way. Phrases like “Jesus Christ” or “God damnit” get used so much that sometimes it makes me sick. Even using the word “God” is still going overboard. I’m not trying to preach or anything, but if someone started shouting your name everytime they got pissed off I bet you’d get irritated. Now think if of how you’d feel if you were the Sovereign Lord who sent your Son to die for the world, only to have the world go around using your name everytime something pissed them off. (Yes, I understand some of you may not be Christians, maybe even Athiest, so those that are Athiest…well…if you don’t believe in God, why do you curse using his name? Almost makes me think you think there might be a God but only to piss you off…hmmm…)
Now, to set it straight, I am definitely guilty of using every word on here (except the N word of course, even I can’t bring myself to that level), and I don’t claim to have a “heavenly” mouth by any means. In fact, I swear a LOT, probably more than I should. I just thought I’d take this time to share my most deepest and impurist thoughts on swear words. Who knows, maybe I was able to educate a little. Let me know if I do, because I always feel just a little better when I can spread my knowledge for the good of mankind. Anyway, enough of my tedious rambling, I think I’m going to go play FFVII now. If I may add something to the N word thing you mentioned… I often hear black people call each other that a lot… and they all laugh while doing so. I don’t really understand, if that’s such a put down term for them, how’s that funny? And of course, if another race would mention that word around them, they’d get the shit kicked out of them.
