How is it you come up with so much material?

Procrastination proves a compelling musical motivator.
Edit: There’s something about the formula I use for most songs that’s just so easy to get into… Chords, drums, melody, bassline… Regardless of the order, putting the four together in tune with each other just makes for great loops and songs time and time again.
Also… remixing and listening to others’ songs frequently helps tons.

It’s weird for me, I sometimes procrastinate work with music, but then I may procrastinate that with just pointless internet surfing. I actually do write out a decent amount of stuff, but It’s in MIDI format, and I never feel like it’s good enough or worth the effort of copying it into notessimo. But maybe when V3 comes along with the MIDI import…

Also, I don’t have the luxury of listening to other’s music that much. I have limited internet, 10gb a month, and youtube and downloading music can really eat it up. It’s “Free” after midnight, but it’s still a bum deal. It’s really hindering me.

YouTube and Notessimo’s Recent Songs lists are musical goldmines for me. When I find an element of music from a YouTube video or from a recent song, using that as a segue into my own original piece has become second nature.
What you can’t get yourself, get from others. In school, out and about, hanging around, etc. Listen to what music they have to share with you, and you may just come up with the next big fad or development. And getting an offline copy of Notessimo (if you don’t have one already) might be a rather beneficial plan for you, especially with your limited Net bandwidth. x:
A side note: I wouldn’t count on v3 coming all that soon… but it would be awesome if it did.
Edit: I’d just like to add that, the use of the 1-5-9 chord (I don’t know how to refer to it otherwise) as used in Evans by DJ Yoshitaka, has made such a difference in the way I do chords… Even in this song (with some the Synth #3 arps)… It’s crazy. :stuck_out_tongue:

When I do listen to songs, I sometimes latch onto something specific/unique in a song I really like, and I want to do something like that, which of course everyone does, but I can’t help but feel like I’m copying it exactly, & sometimes I almost do. But sometimes I do think I’ve come up with something, but then after hearing it again, I remember it’s from song previous song. Like the song “I” I posted recently, it turns out the riff was Wolfgun’s “Reality”, & kind of Renard’s “Spacedragonstyle Raggamissile.”

I did forget to mention that I have a tough time writing is mostly because of my lack of skills in music theory. I won’t lie, I’m pretty lazy with it, & it’s especially bad since I’m doing it on my own. Just writing what sounds good after throwing some notes together rather than learning techniques. & even worse, I’ve been slacking on Drum practice.

Alot of the stuff I do come up with is, I think, terribly generic/nothing new, but when I do think of something that is fairly technical, I lack the skills of “putting it paper”. I know since I’m still an amateur it’s expected, but it’s still aggravating.

Thanks for being motivational though, my biggest fault is just me being lazy.

Btw, what is an “Offline copy of Notessimo”?
