More organized and visually appealing way to view layers
Group instruments with tags and use the order, filter, and search functions
Meters on layers and player bar for monitoring levels
Mute and solo switches for detailed listening (the transparency button could just be visual for more easy viewing of notes)
I really like these ideas. Never even considered a left sidebar until now.
