Okay, while I see what you’re try to say, in that particular song the 2nd chords just did not work. It sounds good here, but only starting at measure 5, BECAUSE the close notes are not alone there. In the song you are “defending” (sort of, I guess), the entire song was using the whole over-octave thing and did not have an agreeable harmony to complement it. It just didn’t work, I think that’s all Blarg was saying.
Sometimes to make stuff sound good you just need to add more.
Ok, it sometimes works out when you’ve got an extra note. I was just saying that the way he used it, it sounded bad. Something that doesn’t work out though, is something like: F4 & Gb4. Try to make that work, it may take a while.
