Wow, I’m not a death metal fan, but some of this stuff is brilliant.
Now I have to agree that there is a lot of repetition going on which kinda makes the song boring, but the riffs in this song are just amazing in my opinion. I know that the point of death metal is fast drums and stuff, but I just don’t think notessimo sounds that well with it (not that it sounds like the most amazing thing in other genres and crap.) I mostly like the second half of it because of the slow down of the drums and the more complicated riffs. The ending is also a fantastic way to go, maybe a little sudden when the acoustic guitars came in, but it was still great, just the repetition makes it sound a bit more boring than it should. Also, on sheet 6, I think it sounds better when the guitars end on a D at measure 67 till the end.
Overall, this song isn’t that bad, just could use some more different melodies and riffs and maybe not so fast drums.
I don’t care that much for this style of drumming either but they fit the genre, & it was done okay here. The only thing that sounds off with them is the tom rolls(I noticed you added panning with them though, nice) & some of cymbals, but that’s not exactly your fault. I did like ‘cymbal #1’ in the blast beat. something about that clicking sound I like. But when it switched to the ‘open hi-hat’, it sounded fake & ruined the flow a bit. The snares & kick are fine since these drummers usually trigger their drums & some groups just use a drum machine.
I would have to agree with the repetitiveness, especially since this is instrumental(duh) & fairly lengthy. I know you really can’t do anything about this here, but I don’t think that this type of metal really does well as an instrumental, or at least this isn’t the best example of it.
This is good though. Probably the best Death(or w/e) on the site.
Wow, thanks! Notessimo isn’t the best for making metal songs, but metal is my number.1 genre (as you may have noticed), so i really like to compose them. I agree that this song is repetitive, i’m not so good building songs.
