Dancing Mad

“Life… Dreams… Hope…
Where do they come from…?
And where are they headed…?
These things…
I am going to destroy!!!” - Kefka Palazzo, Final Fantasy VI.

Ah yes, one of the more well known tracks from Nobou Uemastsu’s musical career, though certainly not as well known as One Winged Angel or Super Smash Bros. Brawl’s Main Theme in my opinion.

Dancing Mad is a masterpiece of a tragic final boss theme, not because it’s so long (which is saying something, as it lasts for four movements), but because it’s the culmination of a court jester’s nihilistic hatred of all living things in the world to the point where he wants to kill everyone, including himself.

As such, certain parts of my arrangement needed some rewrites to perfectly invoke that passion of madness felt in-game without feeling stale over time.

Consider this a late Christmas present from me to all of you, and I hope you enjoy my longest song yet!

NOTE: Contains elements from Fantasy Sheets’ arrangement on Musescore, GAMetal’s metal cover, and the offical Black Mages version.
