Dayton

In keeping tradition with the Toledo formula, this song is also named after an Ohio state city for no other reason than I couldn’t think of what to name this friggen thing.

The goal of composing with Notessimo has always been to strive for improvement with each major song release, for this one I knew I was going to do 2 things, A. Polish it more than I’ve ever polished a song before - and B. Make it better than Toledo 2, as I think Toledo 2 is my best song.

I wholeheartedly expected this to be done by January but after rearranging my free time I bunkered down and sweated through the process, worried the whole time I was going to lose the main file due to a paranoid induced hard drive failure accident or power-outage while the song would save, rendering it glitched and unusable. -Thankfully neither had happened.

Not my preferred genre but there is a lot of good stuff packed into this one this one for sure. The electric clavinet melody at 1:38 is sick, even if it’s just a backing instrument. Breakdown at 2:07 is super dope, but the transition into 2:12 is a bit abrupt. That’s a phat clap at 2:31 - nice!
Your hard work shows mate, pat yourself on the back!

Hard to top Determination in my book :stuck_out_tongue:

This song kinda drones a little but it definitely has some excellent details added (like Hellstick mentioned). I think? this is mostly due to the denser sections being less rhythmically interesting, even though sonically there is a richness to the sound that really works. The sections in-between the choruses are carried a lot more by the rhythm which makes them feel more dynamic.

Yep, I just re-read everything I just wrote, and it sounds like I just vomited a bunch of buzzwords so take what I say with a grain of salt. All of what I said is coming from a guy that thinks that Another Casualty of Procrastination drones a bit too much too. Also, on my third playthrough I noticed a lot of the drum elements are a bit muted (the crash cymbals and the kick drums, for instance). Nearly every time I went “oh I really like that part,” while listening, it was something Hellstick directly mentioned XD

Ending is fantastic. Key change actually was good too, maybe just need a little more of a break or a buildup going into it to really sell it.
