I was just looking at various places on Google Maps (one being my house) when I came across a feature they have.
Not only can you see satellite images of the earth:
But apparently, you can also ‘walk around’ on the streets and look at buildings/things from different angles and such:
This scares me a little. What if I don’t want people taking pictures of my house!
I found that little feature pretty awesome. Sure, it feels like you’re being slightly stalker-ish, looking around at peoples’ houses like that… but it’s still neat.
What happened to my previous post? Did a mod delete it or did the bot delete/move it?
Well anyway, I tried, found my house, but I couldn’t walk around. There were no street view of any street in my town. That’s okay. If I wanted to look at a house in my town, I’d ride my bike there.
Also, if you’re doing an important projects this feature is perfect. It’s perfect for basically any type of social studies class.
Last year, I took this very interesting course of human geography. There was a book that was recommended to be read, so I read it, and it discussed how in today’s society architecture is very mundane and similar.
In a case where a teacher or professor would administer a project, you could use google street view to screen cap how similar houses can get, which is much easier than going outside and doing it yourself. That is, if you procrastinate like me.
