I don’t like the positions of the two options. I was 4 mins. into a song that I had only shared a 30 second preview of in my thread. It had everything just about ready to share. I went to load it, but accidentally hit save (and did not know it). I clicked the song and hit ok. Nothing happened so I thought it didn’t work (this happenes sometimes). I went to load it again (and hit load this time) and there it was, 10/14/09-10/14/09.
I know Starburst won’t be back anytime soon (unless some sort of miracle occurs), but I’m very frustrated with how they are one-on-top-of-another, and would request that the order of the file menu is switched, so that they are in completely different parts of the menu. Or maybe there could be a button on top for load and save (file, edit, samples, etc.) so that this doesn’t happen to other users.
I know I’m probably going to get a response from Hypo saying something similar to this…

Just suck it up and rewrite the song, but be sure to periodically share it so you have an online copy to work with for when this happens again. And if/when it does, don’t whine. Plus, Starburst isn’t even here, so your request is most likely going to go unnoted and soon forgotten. Personally, I don’t even see a point to your request because it would look unprofessional in the setup that wish to have it in and it would just be more time consuming work for Starburst (if he ever returns and acknowledges your request).”
…but i just want this to be noted a known hazard to people who don’t often pay attention when they click load.
Glad to see I’m not the only one who had this happen. It happened once… maybe twice, long ago. I don’t even remember what song(s) it happened to, I must have been to frustrated and gave up completely. But, I really don’t see the point of separating the two options, since they’re (mostly) always together in all other programs. Just… try double checking which option you clicked before you do something.
You know my song when you were mine? Remember how pissed i was when I said i had to redo it like 18 times? Trust me when I say the 1st draft wasn’t nearly as good as the 18th.

That being said–again–shit happens. I may or may not have had a similar experience, and I may or may not have soldiered on in spite of it. Hopefully you gain in perspective what you lose in time and effort. As Roast so pithily put it, the 18th incarnation will usually be better than the first.
well Fish, and everyone else having these problems, there is a way to get around that. When loading, the box says that all unsaved data will be lost. When saving, the box says this will overwrite current data. So make sure to read that box before clicking ok, and if it says the latter, FOR THE LOVE OF GOD HIT CANCEL! Because losing music you’ve worked hours on is definitely NO FUN!
Well maybe there could be a thing that won’t let you save a blank song over anything. There has to be music on the sheet. That would certainly prevent much of this from happening.

EDIT: Lol, the only miracle that could bring Starburst back is a very isolated meteor strike on the college he’s at during lunch time.
