If it wasn’t for this, this wouldn’t be so harsh. (unfinished songs don’t get featured) (also this statement assumes it will be featured, a.k.a. pretentious)
There are no transitions between songs. A Medley should have at least some transition, not a lack of them. They aren’t even in the same key, so it doesn’t make sense to not have a transition.
The volume changes make no sense.
First, they are too different. Yes, accents should be louder than the notes before, but not so much that it sounds like a pianissimo to a forte change.
Second, volume phrasing, especially in the first song, is poor. Accenting all but the last notes of the phrase through measures 9-16 is a bad choice. Those notes at the end should be accented, and those before shouldn’t be. Maybe in the repeat of the phrase (12-16) they can be louder, but not accented.
Third, the piano is not volume balanced. Melody should be the easiest to hear (not necessarily the loudest, bass is loudest). This is definitely shown in measures 23-27, as the melody is encompassed by the higher notes, because all of the pianos at that point are the same volume.
It’s not bad note-wise, but it really needs help in the volume and transition departments.
this would only apply to the original version of the song, not the arranged, as it was not notified beforehand that this was an arrangement of another song
