First look at it and i’m already in love with it! 5/5
Okay. I want you to play sheet 34 over and over and I want you to hear the random melodic hits…
Also, great.

Alright so I guess I’m doing my review here, for lack of a better place.
Intro A (0-1-2-4): Alright so the first half of the intro is a little bland to be honest. That being said, there’s not anything wrong either, it’s just seems like you were playing it safe with the chords. I do like that there isn’t a sheet repeat, so the pacing is good. I also liked the littler things like the tambourine, and the fill as well. Chords are always boring but at least you didn’t drag this part out for 8 sheets. Rating: 3.5/5
Intro B (3-3-5-6): Despite the introduction of the drums, I do still think this is part of the intro since the next part is a release of energy instead of a driving chorus or verse, but that’s alright. The drums do add interest, which has kept the song from being overly boring from the get-go, but I did not like the low snare at all. On my first listen I was so focused on the snare that I missed the finer details that I really like this time through, such as the panning on the DX Tom. Rating: 2.5/5
Transition 1 (7-8-9-10): The Crash at the beginning was brilliant, I loved how it released all the energy so well. This whole section was extremely good for building tension, which does mean it’s even more forgettable than the intro, which is alright since that helps it out. Overall I really like how well this builds into the next section, especially the fill. So far the panning has also been a great addition. Rating: 4.5/5
Chorus 1 (11-12-13-14): This section has two great qualities for it, the atmosphere and energy. The piano’s melody is supported extremely well by the background, and although I do still think the snare is too deep in the spectrum, that was still an improvement from the last section. This was the first section that hooked me in, and boy does it hook me in. Also I did like the arpeggios, but they sound a little boring without some delays (especially since they are being played by a synth sound, which is a little unfitting as of yet). Rating: 4.5/5
Transition 2 (15-15-17-16): I felt the highlight of this section was the drums, which I know where just copied from the chorus but it was really good to have this section to just showcase them in a more leading role. Sheet 17’s crash to loud however, and apart from that, the section wasn’t to interesting. Decent job releasing the chorus’ energy but not quite as good as the pre-chorus transition imo. Rating: 3.5/5
Breakdown 1A (18-19-20-21): If it wasn’t totally obvious yet, my next good point will go to how well the energy has been released in this section. I’ve been talking a lot about that so far, mostly because as of yet, I’m two minutes and 30 seconds into the song and there has been one lead melody so far. So repetition is starting to eat away at me, and I haven’t found anything good to comment on yet, except for the brilliant atmosphere and good transitioning. As for this section, I did like the clear melody by the kalimba, as it lifted my hopes that a more substantial melody was coming. So for the second time, good tension is being built by this section. Rating: 4/5
Breakdown 1B (24-25-23-22): Tension is still being built, which is good, but I found the pianos to be a little bit sudden and loud. I was tempted to critique these and the last four as one big section but the big difference is still there, in the form of the kalimba stopping. Still, I was hopeful coming out of this section, and all of the background melodies so far have been great. Rating: 4/5
Transition 3 (27-28): This section sounded a bit cluttered to me, but I was willing to overlook this since it did do one thing well, which is break the repetition. I particularly like the fill in sheet 28, it was nice and crisp and just reminded me why I love your drumming so much, because it’s just out there but still amazing. Rating: 4/5
Chorus 2 (29-26-30-32): I did like the second chorus a lot, as it was so varied from the first one. It was almost too varied, which would’ve been bad if I had completely missed the piano riff, but since I caught it on my first play and thus established a chorus, I felt the variation was great. Rating 4.5/5
Outro A (33-1): It really suprised me that you could take away so much from the song and still continue on without the song totally becoming completely ruined, so, you guessed it, great job releasing all the energy and building tension for the next part. Rating: 4.5/5
Outro B (35-34): One good thing I would like to say is I just now looking at the time for only the second time since the last time I mentioned I was 2 and a half minutes in, so I know I can say that the repetition and pacing were fine. I also had Outro A listed as a transition before I noticed these two sheets were the end of the song, which is a little bit bad, the end was a little sudden. I did like the piano melody here, but I do think the ending could have been better executed. It’s not bad, it just has the same feel as the intro, a little too safe. Rating: 4/5
In Conclusion: This song overall is great as a background song for something, which would be great if it was ambient. However, I do think it had a lot of potential as a more interesting power-orchestral piece, what it really needs is a more present melody over the top of the piano. The energy there is incredible, but it feels incomplete to me. And like the intro and outro, I have the same thing to say overall. The song feels a little bit too safe, there’s too much room where you could have been much more adventurous. This isn’t really a bad thing, and like I said, there’s not anything overly bad I can say about the song. But I do feel there weren’t enough opportunities for me to use green and red text, as can be seen through-out.
Overall Rating: 3.9/5
