My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic (Cadance is best Princess)

And Foster’s Home for Imaginary Friends.

I’ve noticed as of late that Fimfiction.net is down. Anyone got any ideas. I haven’t been able to get on all week so far.

It’s been working for me. Do you need to read or submit something?

Nope… got everything caught up after my computer let me on the site again after literally 30 mins after talking about the problem… troll computer.

My Little Narwhal.

My friend on another forum community I visit started a thread called “Why Bronies Are a ‘Thing’” to show the people on the site that bronies aren’t terrible people. It’s quite an awesome post. These are NOT my words, they are his. Let me know if you have questions, and I will see if I can talk to him and ask him your question. Thank you.

On that note: it’s its own topic. With a blatant title. If you don’t want to hear about it, I suggest you take the logical course of action of, y’know, avoiding the thread. This thread is for those people who actually, sincerely want a comprehensive answer on the subject. This is not a thread about why you should like MLP because honestly, I couldn’t care less if you like it or not any more than if you like cheese, Twilight, or the properties of the number seven. If you simply don’t like the show, cool. We can both move on. If you choose to stick around and read this after you have resolved how much you hate everything that has to do with bronies and then post as much, well…I really won’t be able to bring myself to feel much sympathy for you wasting your own time.

Okay, let me list off the common reasons for why most bronies like MLP. Then I’ll add my own personal reasons why I enjoy the show. Hopefully this will fully and completely answer your question (and possibly for others, as well).

[list=1]

  • It has good animation. Seriously. Watch just a couple minutes of it, and then tell me how surprised you are that it’s made in Flash of all things.
  • It has complex, quality characters. I think this is something practically anyone here, being on a roleplaying forum, can appreciate. The characters each have their own unique personalities which give them an array of strengths and flaws. These dynamics create many different situations wherein the characters conflict or work together, and ultimately, they (and hopefully the audience) often learn something about themselves and life in general.
  • It has decent writing. Some of the jokes are pretty clever, and especially considering the episodes are condensed into 22 minutes, the stories told are usually pretty damn fun.
  • Friendship is Magic is a family show, not a little girls’ show. While yes, it’s still aimed to market toys to little girls, the show itself is made so that a family can sit down and enjoy it. It has references from things like Batman, Darkwing Duck, The Big Lebowski, Star Wars, and so many others. It makes jokes about alcohol and other adult things that a 6-8 year old girl isn’t going to get (unless there’s something seriously wrong in that girl’s life).
  • The rest of the brony community itself. While yes, there are certain obnoxious bronies and…other sub-sects…most bronies are just generally warm, welcoming people. In addition to that, we have some pretty talented artists in the community. People who draw and paint, musicians who compose entirely original pieces. I’ll post a few examples for those who are genuinely curious about why bronies are ‘a thing’ and aren’t ragging just because it’s the “cool” thing to do.

A dragon that totally looks like Smog from the animated version of The Hobbit. Not to mention their original fantasy elements like the timber wolves, which are wolves made out of actual timber, and they are just downright creepy.

  • The lessons. The message this show conveys really resonates with a lot of my personal policies in life, and has even lent me some improved outlooks in places. I know more than a few adults who could stand to learn some of the things this show has to teach about getting along with other people. This is the part where you might expect me to make a jab at SSG on the whole, which I could easily do, but I’m being serious here.
  • The voice acting. As an aspiring voice actor, I can really appreciate how much work actually goes into this kind of thing, and the quality they manage to reach with the voice work is something I love. They also have some great actors in here, for example Tara Strong as the voice of Twilight Sparkle. If you don’t know who Tara Strong is here’s a link to her page on IMDB, where you can scroll down to see her filmography and how she’s been in practically everything ever. There’s also the fun bit with John de Lancie (you know, the guy who played Q in Star Trek: The Next Generation?) as the voice actor for Discord in the season 2 pilot. It’s very much a typecast, but it works so very well.
  • It’s just plain fun. It’s bright and it’s colorful and it’s silly and whimsical, with little bits of badassery sprinkled in here and there. And yes, I do enjoy that. I see no reason to be ashamed of that; it’s part of the reason I like Wall-E and Up! and plenty of other animated works.

Now, if you managed to get through that mammoth of a post and still managed to hold on to your curiosity long enough to have more questions, please feel free to post them here. I’ll do my best to give honest, detailed answers.

Pick a song or two from a genre you like and give it a listen!

Music:
Loyalty by AcousticBrony and MandoPony

A Long Way from Equestria by AcousticBrony and MandoPony

I really could go on and on with this because there’s just that much of it out there, in even more genres, but I still have the graphic artwork to show off, and my post is getting long enough as it is!

Okay, that’s it. There were a LOT more videos, but the limit for this site is terrible, and I don’t want to add any more replies than I already have. Sorry![/b]

Omnipony and SoGreatandPowerful.

BEST MUSICIANS EVER.

Oh, and sounds like that was written during season one.

The show’s about 200% percent cooler now.

This was written maybe five hours ago.

You might want to add “bad-ass season 2 finale with lots of ass-kicking and stuff.”

Also, merged threads.

Interesting! It’s also funny.
