Panic Attack Intro by Dream Theater

NOOOOOOOO! IT ENDED!

DarkChameleon did the intro to this song awhile back, and its better, but the fact that you are doing this song and you are covering it quite well, you earn your 5 very easily.

I](Unnamed Song by Unknown - Songs - Notessimo) like the 1st half of the intro better, minus the drums, though myself

I liked yours more than DarkChameleon’s, actually, though I agree that his choice of instrumentation was better in the beginning. I suggest trying out Clean Electric Guitar #1 instead of Bass Guitar #1. You may also want to knock the tempo up to 250. Besides that, great job.

Yeah, this one’s a lot better, although, as in mine, I would’ve chosen bass #4 in the beginning. Mine was way too muddy, I screwed up the dynamics so that a) the drums were indistinct over the guitar B) the violins stuck out too much and c) the violins cut off way too early. Although, you know the part where the distorted chords come in (2nd half of sheet 2)? Yeah, that doesn’t really sound too great. I wrote an explanation on why you shouldn’t use the metal guitar for chords somewhere, it’s to do with frequencies and such, but I can’t find it right now. In my version I used the bass to complete the chord and just kept the metal guitar at octaves, but obviously then you don’t really get the full effect. It’s mostly personal preference going one way or the other (over-saturated tone vs. under-saturated). But yeah, overall a lot better than mine, if you plan on finishing it I’ll definitely give it a feature (although I’d imagine if you keep the quality consistent I don’t see why anyone else wouldn’t want to).

Awesome! I do plan on finishing it eventually, although it’s a really long and fairly complicated song (I’m dreading the organ solo). I might edit it once in a while when I feel like I’ve added enough to make it worth another listen.
But yeah, I think the reason metal guitar doesn’t make good chords is because each note already comes with a note 5 spaces above it, as in the note you would make a power chord with. So when you actually put another metal guitar there to make the power chord, you end up with conflicting notes. But I think it’s worth it to make the guitar sound more full, and it works for this kind of song.
As for choosing an instrument for the bass, most of the basses are trade-offs between sustaining length, how noticeable the strum is, and whether the note is accurate frequency-wise (synth bass #1, for example). I hadn’t thought of trying clean electric guitar #1 before, but I tested it out and didn’t really like the strumming sound.
Thanks for the comments and suggestions =)

I think the crashes are a little too muted, they sound more like ride cymbals. And like DC said, the metal guitar isn’t too good for chords, maybe you should consider using a metal guitar doing octaves like DC’s version and then layer the fender strat over it for the chords, and of course Bass #4 has a lot more power overall.

Those are my general problems with the song, other then that I’d say it’s brilliant. I’m not a huge fan of Dream Theater so I haven’t listened to the song, but the drumming is really good, the kicks are nice and the snares are great. Really like the organ and string arpeggios as well. Can’t wait for the full song.

Awesome, really nice job. 5 stars for you good sir.

Of course, immediately after my last post I couldn’t notice anything but how bad the guitar sounded in the second half of sheet 2, so I took StarWars -XD- 's advice and took out the middle notes of all the power chords and replaced them with strat guitars, and it sounds a LOT better. I added the first verse and started to get into the piano section, but I still have a lot of work to do in that section, mainly in adding another type of keyboard or two and the background vocals. And the drums, of course.

dude, put it under Metal
