I was expecting an amazing chorus when the drums had sped up to about 500… But I got something even better. THE SONG ENDED. And then I got drum spam. Simply beautiful.

Oh, your songs aren’t bad. They’re just repetitive. In the future, maybe you shouldn’t try to imitate deadmau5’s style. To be honest, I don’t like his songs very much because they sound like they were made in an hour and took no effort at all.

I’ll use deadmau5’s most famous piece, Ghosts n’ Stuff, as an example.

(Please bear with my examples, I’m not really good at explaining stuff.)

0:00 - 0:15. The opening is okay, but the technique is a bit overused. Chords ~> sweep ~> Crash to chorus.
0:16 - 0:44. Same thing over and over again. Same beat, same sfx. Also, he overuses this beat a lot. Bass, hi-hat, snare, hi-hat.
0:44 - 1:15. Literally the same thing again, but with synth strings.
1:15 - 1:30. Goes back to the chords again. Could’ve done something better with them.
1:30 - end. SAME THING OVER AND OVER AGAIN (with slight modifications).

So, next time, try a different approach, like what you did with your “old school techno song”.

I do like deadmau5, but only when I’m doing something else. I wouldn’t just listen to it on its own. I do think you should go with a less-repetitive style.

don’t listen to them cartr0x… you should be able to make any style of music you like without reasoning. If you choose to do deadmau5’s style of music then you can be innovative with it, like for example less repetition.
