Request a Feature (Songs)

I was thinking the same thing…i just couldn’t find the words to say it…(also in reply to hellstick’s comment)

It’s not random notes though, guitarmania knew what he was doing. I know most people would find that unusual and different from the major/minor scales.
I think the general consensus is that you try to do something more stable and regular though.

when I made FranciscoliciousI really used random things, and, for me, this song is pretty good

That was really good, except for the bit in between the choruses and after it with random instruments…as it barely has relevance to the original song.

With GM’s song, i think he needs to work on some of his transitions…as some are just out of nowhere and your like WTF that kinda sounded bad…Its mainly the tempo changes and beat changes…they really need improvement, which is also why i wasn’t the biggest fan of dragon wars.

Celestia has really good melodies, (i personally really liked the French horn bit) its just the transitions and…well the violin parts don’t always seem to work too well…some bits sound flawed as in the notes are in the wrong places i would have no idea how to fix these…but i do notice them by just listening. Also, the voxes make a nice harmony except the fact that theres too many, i avoid using more that 3 at a time because of the volume, but if i do use more, i would HALF the volume so that its not a massive distortion (i.e what the voxes used to be (and in some cases still are) and the rhodes at the end of sheet 7). What i think needs to be done is to actually make sure the song flows as a song, not a collection of different melodies that suddenly make random changes.
You may also need to practice not using as much instruments, using a lot of instruments can be good, but if used wrong, terrible, you need to be careful with that.

This is not meant in an offensive way, it is meant to show you how you could improve.

Thanks for the criticism! Really helps to see what I’m not doing as well in.
Transitions are by far the worst part in my writing. I just have so many ideas that when it comes to connecting them, I do not do as well. This will just need to develop over time.
I will just continue to mess around with this song, though for now i am going to begin a few more songs. Soon I will post a new version that I feel is truly flawless. The only problem is from the composers perspective, it does not take alot to be considered flawless. Thanks again everyone.

I dont know if someone wrote this, but other thing, is the chords… you make the chors (with voices or horn) too bass…

Your songs are good guitarmania, but I also notice you have no songs with an actual chorus. It’s more of a story. That’s not a bad thing, it’s just unusual.

Also, your chords have some wrong notes in them. It doesn’t sound right at all (like a C-A-F-D chord) and it doesn’t fit. I’m not sure if this was purposeful or not.

Also, I really do believe the notes weren’t entirely planned. Some were random, some weren’t. For example, the french horn part was good at first, but then went too low. For the French horn, I suggest staying near Middle C and keeping it sounding like the main voice.

Yeah, I agree. I just realized that too. No chorus. My previous songs were just combinations of ideas thrown together tied by transitions. I’m beginning to question my judgement on doing that because that is not how a song should be written.

As for chords, I believe I have most of them correct, though I may have misplaced a note and never noticed. By the way, the C-A-F-D is suppose to be there. I play that chord a lot and haven’t really seen problems with it.

As for the Horn, higher notes do not sound very good. I will not go above an F (bottom of treble staff) because it starts to lose tone quality that a true horn has. Horn is my main instrument and I play in treble a lot, but here it just does not sound as well, so I write down an octave. I don’t like the horn playing A’s and C’s in bass cleft very much, but I think it sounds better than a middle-of-staff C in treble cleft.

In general, I do not really organize myself when writing. Recently, I have been playing behind a piano while writing music, so now I have began planning a song. My next song will have a chorus and will be organized.

Ooh  can’t wait!!

It’s just that those “dissonant” chords are very powerful and can be harsh, or even painful, usually they aren’t used that much, and when they are they resolve to something nicer, so listening to Celestia kinda sounds like a faint bee trapped in my ear. Just what I feel.

Not much to be said…

Love this one! Let me know what you think…

My first request, my best cover.

fingers crossed

okay, I have featured it.

Awesome

I think my new song should be featured.

Can this be featured?

I feel like this song has a chance at being featured, it doesn’t show off anything special but has a very simplistic but soothing sound to it. Almost as it was a cover version of a real song.

I think i heard it time ago :D

A bit random, and I DONT LIKE THE BASS PART

I have to agree with you there. Great song though.
