First of all, a rule for the featured page (or suggested by a few mods) was that it was one song per person…
Kaveman has 2, Nuse has 2, and CtelinAjira just got 2 in a row…
Second, The people that were on top are getting f*ck all publicity/time at being on the top…Cakeje’s song was only up there for half a day, my song was barely up there for a day before fishrocker’s was added, then that was replaced ANOTHER half a day late with electronic fjord, it had a nice 2 days before another being added, which only lasted on the top for 4 days before it was sent down by 3 NEW FEATURED SONGS IN THE SAME DAY, one of which i don’t think should even be there.
Maybe it is that all the songs are being released now… but seriously people…you were making others wait a week before something was featured and now you have 8 in 8 days!!
Finally, the featured songs list used to feature songs with almost NO flaws i see at least 4 songs which FAIL to those qualifications…
Maybe some of them need to be taken down…or maybe mods should give each song a little time first…you cant have songs being featured one day after another…it’s quite unfair for the others…

I agree, but no-one seems to listen to me. If we post continue posting 3~4 at a time, the songs get buried. As you can see, Cakeje’s Attack of Atlantis has less views than the others because four others were posted on top of it the next day.
And I amn’t entirely happy with some of the songs, and QVX isn’t either. The featured songs aren’t meant to be the opinions of just 1 person, we’re meant to agree on them together.
all good points, id like to add that it really anoys me that people just post a brand new song here and it gets featured ! im pretty sure if i came here and went feature my songs someone might but you should put it in your own damn thread and a related genre only! if its feature worthy then someone else would say hey guys why isnt this amazing song by someone else featured

i was actually staying quiet as i saw that maybe the 4 or so songs were just a once off kinda thing…but when 3 extras just suddenly appeared in one day i had to mention something
It is also alarming to see no discussions about each song…(and its feature-worthiness)

I don’t see as much a problem as I do the songs near the bottom. They’ve been here for who knows how long and no one seems to want to take them down? I mean yeah they’re all great but I don’t think they need to stay any longer than they have. As a general point, I would say that once a song reaches 500 listens it should be stricken from the featured list. That gives newer songs plenty of time to be on the featured list and receive a good amount of votes on how good the song actually is.
Also, on the subject of songs that get featured rather quickly, I personally think that if someone else takes the time to post in this thread about a song that isn’t theirs, the song should be almost instantly featured. If you post your own song in the thread, I would like to see a lot more discussion, and not just from mods either. The idea of this thread is that it gives regular users who can’t feature songs the chance to present a song and give it a case, and while I agree that we aren’t strict enough in our song choice, that aspect isn’t as big an inhibitor as having a person request a feature and then no discussion whatsoever goes on before the song is featured.
Please, speak up! Everyone’s opinion matters, whether you can feature the song yourself or not.
Now, one thing I don’t agree about is this nonsense about songs get more views than each other on the featured list. The entire point of the featured list is that songs will get more views than it is possible otherwise, so no matter which songs get more views than others on the featured list, it doesn’t compare to the rather large number of songs that aren’t featured, that only get views from our community. If you really hate having your song below someone else’s, my suggestion to you is to produce a newer song, because then there would be productivity.
Also I’d like to point out that the one song I see one the featured list that I personally don’t believe belongs there is Electronic Fjord, because it feels too unfinished in it’s current state. However, that particular song has received 16 votes, yet it remains at 5 stars, the highest rating I’ve ever seen (obviously it can’t go above 5 stars, what I mean is vote-wise). So maybe the community disagrees with me. Either way, the biggest point I’d like to make is that it’s not the quantity of songs getting featured that’s the problem, it’s the lack of discussion. So, should we impose a rule that a song needs to be posted here and have at least 3 posts below it saying yes? (it should only need 1 if a user posts a song that they didn’t make, because posting another users song counts as a vote in itself.)
Another question is: should non-mods be able to say yes? If someone asks for someone else’s song, then a non-mod comes along and says yes, should they be allowed to say that it’s feature worthy? There are a lot of people who won’t say that it’s feature worthy becuase they are “not a mod!” I think that should be changed.
And, another point that has been made a bunch, PUT ALL SONGS THAT ARE ABOUT TO BE DE-FEATURED IN THE FEATURED SONG LIST! We need are archived version, guys!
To QVX: 500 listens is actually quite a high number to achieve, as on the current list it only applies to songs featured since April (and before). I personally think that it’s no problem to leave a song up there for so long, especially if we actually debate over which songs are worth featuring.
Here’s a base guideline of what I have in mind.
For featuring new songs (this set of rules only applies to future compositions):
Rule #1: No song can be featured until it has been posted in this thread.
Rule #2: A song that has been formally requested in this thread must have three votes going for it by different users (not just mods), all of whom must post their opinion in this thread. If a user posts a song he/she did not make, it counts as two votes for the song and will only need one more users vote.
Rule #3: If a user posts in this thread saying they don’t want the song featured, it shall count as a negative vote.
Rule #4: A user that has a song featured may not request another one of their songs, unless they specify that they would rather have the older song taken down. If someone else requests it for them, only then is it okay for there to be two songs by the same user featured. This does not apply to collabs.
Rule #5: Once a song is featured, it shall not be removed save for one of the reasons below. This also means that the voting period will be over.
For taking down old songs (this can apply to all currently featured songs):
Rule #1: If a song reaches 300 listens, it will have been up for long enough.
Rule #2: If a song’s rating falls below 3, it needs to be taken down (with the exception being songs with less than 10 votes)
Rule #3: If a user has a song featured and they say they want a newer song featured in it’s place, the older song will stay up until the newer song is featured.
Rule #4: In the instance that a song is featured and has not reached one of the above criteria but you still feel it should be removed, post here about getting the song removed. The same system will be used, 3 votes will be needed other than the original user who requested a song be taken down, and if a user requests their own song it will count as two votes, thus needing one one other users agreement before taking it down.
I’m wondering if we should have a separate thread for that last rule, but that’s only if you guys actually want to use this system.
Also, for mods:
Rule #1: When you take a song down, you are obligated to re-post it into the past-featured songs list.
Rule #2: When you feature a song, please post in this thread stating that you did so (this one isn’t mandatory, I just want to know how you guys would react to that).
can we add a rule to the list for taking down featured songs saying that if the original user does not want the song to be featured (for whatever reason) they can request it to be taken down.
Also i’ve never seen a song rating in the featured songs drop below 3.0 stars.
I don’t know who featured the other one.
