This reminds me of a toy keyboard I had like 12 years ago which had different instrument voices. If you held a key down and pressed the change instrument -button, it would instantly change the voice to a different instrument and start the held note again through a variety of keyboard and synth sounds. Sounded exactly like this, except that it was actually ridiculously fast.
