Nah I already reviewed it twice, once here and once in the rock thread. I just put them together.
Iâm not sure if DD12 would approve of me posting the song yet without his consent.
Yâknow what Roast? I think you should
Donât let other people hold you back
Dream the impossible dream
SMASH THE SYSTEM
Posting the song.
Filler post because I hate posting songs at the bottom of pages, who cares, no oneâs going to come back here anyway. Thanks DC for faking a convo with me.
Well then post it lol
Oh hey roast finally had a successful collab. Would you look at that. It only took 3 months too!
I myself am quite proud of writing sheets 30-31 (along with the rest of the song >___>), sorry DD12 I know youâve been busy lately with school work and other collabs, and I apologize for calling you out like this but I honestly felt as if I were the one leading this collab :/. I do have to give him props though for starting this collab and without him the concept of this song wouldnât even remotely exist .
Ladies and gentlemen: Industrial Revolution
Also this song totally isnât about pirates.
I Lolâd at the end witht the fade in and the high piano note.
Otherwise im speechless⊠luckily Iâm not⊠umm⊠âtypeless?â
Here we go againâŠ
Havenât heard anything REAL in a while (honestly I hate covers on this site nowâŠjust donât see much point anymore). Mind you, while writing this I have been sick for the past week and a half, kinda sucks right now. Hopefully i can give the kind of review you guys are use to.
Okay starting off I want to stress two huge points. I LOVE this song, and I HATE drumming that isnât simple. The intro was incredible, the chorus was easy to spot through-out the song and it wasnât repetitive any more than it should have beenâŠbut the drumming just threw me off and was a little over-powering. Normally when going into a song that has Roastâs name on it, I expect something different in the drumming. In the past, Roast has always been able to do things with drums that no of us thought possible without being overly random, but unfortunately I canât say the same for here. The snareâs sound sloppy, the bass drum is non-existent, and apparently the dry tom is the new high-hatâŠ
Thatâs not to say that the drumming has no merit. Randomness is always good for fills, which in this song were a little varied on their level ofâŠgoodness, which is fine. What cymbal work in general that there was in the song was good. And there was always a snare on the off-beat, which will probably forever be a standard. What threw me off was that the snare is also placed in other places along the beat, which can be okay if not done in excess. Itâs just that for the first half of the song, I had it in my mind that the snares werenât in their usual spots, and even when i realized they were, it didnât really change my opinion too much.
Okay thatâs enough about drumming. The next part I would like to talk about is the bass, often the unsung heros in music. Again, in the beginning it was greatâŠwhat with the amazing mixture of the clean and damant. Those instruments are actually very obvious choices for bass in my books now, so it was a huge disappointment to me to barely be able to hear any bass in the song, and only bass #4 was in the bass solo, not to mention the rest of the song. In fact I was getting out of sheets 36 and 15 wondering why even though it was the chorus why it sounded so off from the intro when sheet 2 came along as a big reminder. So yeah, the bass could have been better. Overall, I thought it was good, though i may be a little biased there. Little known fact about me: my original username was going to be âBassMasta.â Then I thought it sounded tooâŠnewbie. Moving on.
Now the strat work was amazing. Random yet somehow not at the same time, where have we heard this before? Either way, it was great. The solo was interesting and fun to listen to. I also loved the panning. Only thing to critique is the very ending chord of the chorus, it was ratherâŠbad. Other than that, there is nothing else to mention. Once the strings came in, I just fell in love with that chorus. As for the metal guitar work, that was nice because even through it was more of a minor instrument, it wasnât under-used like in Field of Theories.
The last thing to talk about is the ending, which was very nice and carried a ton of energy. The only problem was that the piano was rather last-minute, and I thought that maybe that second to last chord could have been turned into a triplet to more clearly mark the last chord. Either way it was a great chord.
Now my last statement will be to highlight a great aspect of this song that is somehow underused despite the fact that everyone understands how to do it. No itâs not triplets, but rather staccato notes. For those who have a little less knowledge of music theory, this is the art of ending your notes earlier than the next note. They really were a huge part of this song and I canât see the song being nearly as good without it.
My vote, as usual, is a four. However I think this song is slightly better than that, I would give it 4.1. Only let downs were the drumming and background atmosphere.
Wow, I honestly thought the bass guitar was the best part of the song (maybe because I have some awesome, bassy headphones so they sound like god).
But I noticed you seemed to have taken a liking toward the intro. I have to give DD12 credit there- he was almost completely responsible for the intro, all I did was add the drums, the overtones, and extended it⊠Actually the way I worded it made it seem like I did all the work but still, he did good. Your comment on the drums, I would again have to disagree- when you said that highhat-tom thing I kind of tried to imagine how the first verse would have sounded without the tom and⊠yeah, not so great. The snare though- I KIND of agree.
applause
I have a couple things to mention. First, great review, Star, as always. Second, I loved the song, Roast. I liked the drumming and strat, which were rather interesting, but what I loved was that bass solo and ending. That is all I have to say. Great song Roast, and hopefully more to come.
Again, I must re-stress that i LOVE the song. Not even like, but LOVE. This site needs more raw talent instead of so many covers/remixes.
And yeah, I agree with the bass thing, I must rephrased my earlier statement. I liked the bass a TON, especially the bass solo, I just wish that the damant and clean had been used in support of it.
And yes, the first verse would have sounded bad without tomsâŠbut what about taking out the toms and putting in a high-hat? You have to realize that the only real reason I disliked the drumming was the snare, which is a biggy for me. The non-existent bass drum didnât help much. I thought the toms were great, but I wanted to see more high-hats, because the sections with high-hats in them were very nice.
Wow the intro to that song was ⊠just definitely my favoutite part. You probably donât care about my opinion but ⊠I didnât really like sheets 37 and 32, and maybe it was a little repetitive. I loved bar 30 though.
I agree on the âbar 30â part, but little repetitive? That song repeated as much as it needed to, it was almost perfect.
that was amazing Roast/DD12 I find that by your use of complex instrument combos and by your innovative and clean sounding rhythms, as well as your crossing between genres, with that first riff being almost a sea shanty, and your transitions into metal you were able to create a interesting and well polished product. I donât know why star mentioned the drums they were very good in my opinion, and actually added alot to the song, I say 5/5.
Also if its a competition of who has the longest reply:
here is some info about ionic conductivity as an inspiration for lyrics or something
Ionic Conductivity
In this lab, the conductivity of certain substances were tested to assist in classifying a substance as either a ion, or not an ion.
HYPOTHESIS
By applying a conductivity tester to the substances, water, sugar, saline, KNO3, HCL, Vinegar, Powerade, and NaHCO3 only those substances that contained both a metal and a nonmetal (Saline, KNO3, HCL, Vinegar, and NaHCO3) would show conductivity.
Materials
Conductivity Tester
Well Plate
Solutions
METHOD
The Well plate was filled with a different substance in each well along the row, with a second row filled with the diluted versions of the same substances. In this lab, data was obtained through use of a conductivity tester, so information was found via the state of the light on the tester, off being not conductive, and on being conductive.
DATA
The data shows that when conductivity was measured only water and sucrose did not conduct electricity. Figure 1 displays this data in a table format.
Well Substance Pure Substance Diluted Substance
1 H2O No No
2 Sucrose No No
3 Saline Conductive Conductive
4 KNO3 Conductive Conductive
5 HCl Conductive Conductive
6 Vinegar Conductive Conductive
7 Powerade Conductive Conductive
8 NaHCO3 Conductive Conductive
Figure 1
Note this is my Chemistry lab for Mrs. Cody if she somehow checks turnitin.com and says I plagerized
CONCLUSION
The hypothesized conductivity of the substances was closely matched by the results of the lab. the substances that did not show conductivity included the water and sucrose solutions. Although the data matched closely, it did not exactly match the hypothesis. The only variation was in the result of Powerade, which was found to be conductive. The reason for this is that Powerade contains electrolytes, which is conductive of electricity. These too are ions, something that would not be predicted from common cense. As, humans do not usually consume salts. The conductivity of these substances are very important to the use of them scientifically. They, as predicted all are or contain ions, which re-affirms the belief that ions are conductive, and that is the similarity between the substances.
EDIT:
I realized my word count was still lower than stars even with this added, so here is more
Virtues
In a perfect society a person should have certain virtues such that they can create the type of world that will prosper. I believe that the best three virtues for a perfect human arecourage and fortitude, self control, and trustworthiness. Having these virtues, a person can construct a society and maintain it with excellence. Each of these characteristics helps with the creation of this perfect society in a different way.
A person with courage or fortitude would be able to build constructions, research medicines and energy, and be heroic when needed and face the difficulties of their lives with great vigor, being more productive and providing physical and economic security. In a society in which each person had fortitude or courage then every person would do what is best for the group. It has been proven that in societies that have a higher value of courage, greater effort is put into their work and that they produce more goods. One such society was the Mayan empire, which greatly valued courage. This empire reined 3,000 years, over 10 times as long as the United States, and was very profitable in its ventures.
Self-control is another important virtue, which is necessary in a perfect society. Self-control prevents fights, promotes better relationships, and lowers crime rates according to Science Daily Journal. Any person who wishes to control others must have self-control. This has been well supported in history by the famous leader Julius Caesar. He was well known for his self-control, and for his ability to lead. A society with better self-control would have better leaders, leaders that could pass better legislation and strengthen military, economic, and maintenance procedures. This would strengthen a nation and its citizens, creating better unity, and lengthening the nationâs rein. As much as Julius Caesar was known for his self-control, he was as much known for his trustworthiness.
Trustworthiness is an extremely powerful characteristic for a person to posses. It allows the people who posses it to more efficiently carry out tasks where a person is trusted with a secret that must be guarded. While this is important, it is not the only application where trustworthiness helps. There are many more. One of these is reduced crime from embezzlement. 90% of experts agree embezzlement increases when a person is not as trustworthy. A society free from embezzlement would mean a prosperous economy, and better quality of living that would produce a more profitable society in general.
These characteristics embodied in a person would produce the best seed for a new civilization. These seeds are important to our new civilization and I believe should be used. When these traits are used a perfect society is created, a society with higher production of goods, strong leaders and a general better quality of living that would make the society better and better.
Lol ix.
Starâs word count: 750
ixâs word count: 440
lol fix
And how did Star write more for that than my chem lab? you put in way too much effort into those star
Stars word count 750
My word count 941
He probably has nothing else to do. Hehehe.

Quantity < Quality.
I donât really mind this statement. I am homeschooled, so itâs not like I spend all day in school. And right now in my life there really isnât much else to strive for. My job at our company is on a one hour per class basis, and it hasnât gotten too heavy yet. And when I do go on a date, itâs usually in the evening. Thus, I have a little bit of time on my hands. Donât judge me V_V
well your review lacks a paragraph on trustworthiness and mine has a section on the ionic conductivity of the song. so I won on both fronts.
So you basically contradicted yourself.
Good job.
