Well, I finished it. Nobody decided to give it feedback in the Unfinished / Demo Forum ( ), but I can deal with it.
I think this is almost as good as my song Sights. Not smooth, but it’s still sounding good.
It’s a tad repetitive towards the bass solo. It’s hard to make such a low volume instrument loud.
There’s actually a forum for this. (First songs)
If you REALLY want me to critique on this, then I will.
No bass.
Very repetitive (especially the drum beat)
Lack of a real Key. (Key of C? Minor Key?)
Use of only a small section of instruments. There’s more than just the metal guitar and drums for you at use.
I don’t know what it is about your songs, but they should sound a lot better than they are… I think it maybe the melody that you use for your songs. Usually whenever I hear a song with a good sounding melody I will hum it in my head all day long, but I never find myself doing that with your songs. This maybe because either the melody is not standing out from all the other bits that are put in there or that the melody doesn’t stay in the song long enough as it doesn’t stay consistent.
I kind of know what you mean. The thing about my songs mainly is I like to keep a good drum beat going (such as this one). The melody is usually not listened to in my songs as much as the guitar and the drums. If you’re a bass lover, then it’s the bass. Notice how in “The Race” it’s titled to be an upbeat fast-going song that feels like you’re speedy. (Hence 180 tempo) The drums also were very upbeat by the simple (bass-snare-bass-snare) with not much change to that. The guitar follows the drums most of the way through it (a few times the bass). However, during the chorus, they change to a rather background beat. This is to give the beginning of each phrase of the chorus more power.
Then the melody comes in.
It’s more of something that’s there to keep everything going. It’s put on and after the power parts of each phrase in the chorus. Therefore, it is less powerful and less memorable. This is probably why you don’t remember much of my melodies.
Another old song of me. I’m gonna play it with my band, but first I want to hear what you think. I know the keyboard is way too simple, I have tried to change it, but this is the best I could make.
Well for starters it was incredibly repetitive. Use different chords!
Also it just didn’t sound right, I think it was because you mixed up major and minor.
Thirdly, I just couldn’t figure out what key it was in. Try to pick one and stick to it.
This is my last old song i post. Same story as ‘I wanna fly’: I want to play it with my band, first I wanna hear what you think. I think it’s better then ‘I wanna fly’
