Updated: I took TFB’s criticism to heart, also changed some things that I didn’t like.
Does sheet 51 remind anyone of Acceleration of the Unhurried? Or is that just me?
It’s probably not what you were going for but it does kinda sound like it.
So this is what epicness sounds like…
Outdated Review
Since I got bored and I have nothing to do, time to do an in-depth review (I’ma steal StarWars ideas again).
Sheets 3-2 (Intro) 4/5:
This is a very nice Intro, except for the first fender strats. The first 3 notes from them were somewhat annoying. The bass drum was quite boring in this part. The reverse cymbals should’ve been allowed to extend instead of ending right before the next one.
On a good note, the bass and backup guitar are used in an amazing manner. The “suspense” between each phrase (3 notes in between) is also used in such a way that it’s barely even noticeable, but great nonetheless.
Sheet 7 (Transition) 4.5/5:
Yes, I know it’s a 1 measure sheet. What’s really good about it is it shows how good you are at changing bpm’s so they are virtually the same at any rate. I love this sheet, I don’t know why.
Sheets 19-4-5-9 (1st Verse) 3.5/5:
The verse is introduced with a very nice silence. This is probably a great transition, but it is undermined by the fact the 4~5 transition is very ugly. When something sounds as good as Sheet 4, I would expect a better transition. But no, we listen to an octave chord and then a low single note again. I loved the varied drumming, however!
Sheets 19-4-10-11 (2nd Verse) 4/5:
The 4~10 transition was much better than 4~5, leaping from one octave chord to another. Dunno why you reused 19 and 4, since there could’ve been something better there. Ah well. There’s a nice small solo on 10 and 11 as well.
Sheets 8-13-8-16 (Break) 2.5/5:
This part is probably the most awkward part in the song. Especially 13. The drums play a random snare in 13 then back off again on 8. Also, you reused the silence. I can see how it corresponds with 16, but it’s just not powerful enough. And somewhat random. This part could’ve used a lot more.
Sheets 15-1-50-1-7 (Solo) 4/5:
Sheet 15 is used amazing as a transition, and works extremely well. The only issue I have with this section is the blue strats. They were annoying. Otherwise, this is a great solo that doesn’t use power to its advantage, but moreover triplets.
Sheets 21-27 (Bass Break) 4.5/5:
People don’t think the bass can solo. It can.
Sheets 12-51-26-51-25 (Tempo Change) 3/5:
Screw Key Changes, Tempo Change! It sounds amazing, EXCEPT for Sheet 12’s intro. There’s that silence…again…
Also, for each “phrasebreak” (I’m gonna call it that: the part between each phrase), at least, most of the phrasebreaks, they contain an extra measure that should be burned up in a fire and sent to the lowest circle of hell for ruining this part.
Sheets 19-5-9-17-5 (Final Verse) 2.5/5:
SILENCE WAS USED AGAIN. I wish you hadn’t reused silence this much! Also, the only sight of repetition was after Sheet 17, when you included another Sheet 5. Hell, it sounds good without it.
Sheets 30-12 (Outro) 1/5:
Nope
-You reused the silence again! Borinnggg
-You reused a sheet that doesn’t work for an outro! It sounds extremely awkward!
-The reuse of sheets in the Outro don’t make it good…Sheet 30 was pretty much 19.
Sheet 24 (Ending Sequence) 5/5:
With a weird Outro, you’d think the ending sequence would be weird. However, it contains originality, and it sounds like a true rock ending. This part is my favorite, and probably unique when it comes to notessimo (even though my songs have TRIED to do it but failed). This is the only part that gets a 5/5, no mistakes in my mind.
Sheets: 35
Sections: 11
Overall Sheet Rating (Each Sheet averaged): 3.3142857 / 5
Overall Section Rating (Each Section averaged): 3.0454545 / 5
Personal Rating (My thoughts on the whole): 3.5 / 5
Comments:
Your extra use of silence silence silence was boring boring boring.
There was a lot of reuse that got old over time.
A lot of your sections were ruined by a major detail.
I really do like this song. It was amazing. When you go in-depth on something it becomes less of what it is. The general appeal of this song is great, and had I not gone in depth I would’ve said 4.5/5. A more general approach in myself is usually a higher rating. I still want this to be featured.
Also I don’t think this is punk.
Oh
I recycled bunch of old little things I made and mashed it into one with transitions between lol
Probably didn’t do a good enough job on some of the transitions, to me parts sound weird
Longest. Comment. Ever.
THEFinalBoss likes this edit.
Nope, i believe ixsetf still holds that record.
…was at least twice as long.
Amazing song though, great effort
