Swearing

Well okay DC. That wasn’t a rant, it was a novel. Just because your post was long doesn’t mean it’s a rant to take to the bank, it just means I have to spend more time reading it and will have more points to make. Like my post being pointless. I actually agree, but only because I think any post made to any forum that has nothing to do with what the forum was made for is pointless or “off-topic.” That’s what the whole sub-forum was for. I even said that I’m not going to convince anyone, that’s just how pointless it is. But if you really REALLY felt it was so pointless, why did you reply with the longest “rant” ever? I mean you even contradict yourself by saying rants need to convey anger, yet yours seems to just be insulting me and my opinion of the topic. Apparently I have to be a master of the subject of swearing to decide whether it’s wrong or not now. Tsk, tsk, tsk. Moving on.

I didn’t make a single excuse, so I don’t see how that was flipped on me. It still stands as it was. If you make a cop-out like “everyone’s doing it” or “It’s okay in private” your just justifying it for yourself and that doesn’t help anything in the sight of others. You could use that logic to fit any kind of “legal” crime, pornography, drugs, alcohol, etc. Just because it’s legal doesn’t make it morally or physically right. That’s why we were given brains.

Most of your post is this: “It’s not my fault for saying that word, it’s the other person’s fault for not liking that word.” Again, this is just an excuse that doesn’t justify it at all. Its like going up to somebody, taking their keys and driving off with their car, and it’s okay because it’s their fault for not wanting it stolen! The fact that people don’t want something bad to happen is not what makes that thing bad, it’s the thing itself. So yes, it makes it WRONG to swear, and not because you will effect everyone around you, but because of the reason for doing it in the first place.

Ah swearing in private. What I find worse is that you say “you’re either insane or Jesus himself” as a de-motivator for me to even reply to this. If you think Jesus could come up with a justification for not swearing in private, isn’t that a good enough reason for you not to? (stupid statement time: “SEE HOW I FLIPPED THAT THERE HEE-HEE-HEE?”). Moving on.

I will go ahead and go there and say that if someone I decide to try and befriend swears a lot, I will automatically edge myself away. Eventually he/she will come around with the stupid question: “do you ever talk trash?” And then I will be like “no,” and he/she will be like “well that’s lame, it’s just a word.” Been there, done that. I’m not kidding, I have had friends before that swear and the habit will grow on you until you can’t stop. That is why I will forevermore avoid people like that. I don’t think that they are inherently evil, or lazy or brought up bad or anything like that, I just think they have a bad habit that I wouldn’t want myself to incur.

haha that’s why I put that part in there, just so I wouldn’t have to endure a torrent of swear words from whoever decided to counter-rant. But wait, by the logic of your rant, you could have sworn several times and it wouldn’t have made any difference! After all, it’s my fault for not wanting to hear them in the first place right?

As for the last point about Hypo’s thread, I’ve already said that somewhere in the first song’s thread that I should make my own. After that huge post, and mine too, I may just do that. It may be nice to have my own thread that’s not inside the song’s sub-forum, I’d like to have one, if only so that I may spend more time outside of the song’s sub-forum which is the only one i actually care about. hmm…decisions, decisions.

Oh, and I consider it to be a WRONG thing to walk up to somebody with a piece of wood and just whack them over the head for no reason, even less so if I KNEW FOR A FACT that he/she didn’t like wood for whatever reason.

Oh haha with your edit. The first post afterwards was one about it, and the last post was over 20 minutes ago, and I seriously doubt someone who has the audacity to attack me in the name of swearing with such a long post would take that long, so you can stop lying about that. However I right now, after clicking post once but before posting it, reading about Muselline’s query about the bible.

one of the few times I agree with starwars.

ireally wanna lock this thread, but at the same time im compelled to keep it open.

what rule has been broken? No one has even yelled at each other yet.

I seem to agree with StarWars a lot, just like this time. But, Star, you forgot to capatalize the B in Bible, at the very end.

I would expect a longer counter-rant, Star. But I have to say DC’s rant had stronger points and a strong way of tell them so if I didn’t agree with you I’d probably be agreeing with him.

spam, long rants, people getting pissed, basically this thread is getting a bit out of hand if you will. but your right, i dont have the right of way to lock it, im just saying, it seems this thread is starting down the same path of the religion thread, which was a disaster when sent in, because everybody eventually ends up at each others throat when being raped with everybodys different beliefs, having “the word of god; etc.” shoved in your ear, but i digress.

I think it’s how you’re raised that would determine how you view this subject.

And theres the whole summary of this thread. We could go on ellaborating, sure, but thats just time and bandwidth wasted, in my opinion.

Debating is healthful as long as it doesn’t turn into some kind of flame war.

I really quite like disputes actually, even the religious scuffles.

Ok, I guess just lock it. Its all just a point of view, and we’ll find out how each person is anyways when you say something that they disagree with (unless they’re (HAH KD I DID IT RIGHT) like Kd who is care free)

No don’t lock it. It’s boring around here and a bit of activity won’t hurt anyone.

except for Starburst, who has to pay for the bandwidth.

And go talk in one of the fun threads. I don’t like it when the internet is serious business.

If he has to pay for how wide his band is maybe he could squash the people together.

sigh

One side of the argument is based solely off of religion while the other side is based off of why religion shouldn’t even be in the discussion, and knowing the internets, this is a recipe for fucking disaster. This is just going to turn into another one of those generic moot Religion debates that, at the end of the day, accomplish nothing and sway absolutely no one’s opinions and beliefs which we all had already formed long beforehand.

Well then, why are you even arguing to this if you think it’s gonna “accomplish nothing”?

He is just stating what was already implied, but never got through to you.

I don’t see how you can stick swearing in the same category as drugs and alcohol. The reason many of us choose not to shoot up methamphetamine or drink is because of the nasty things it can do to your body. Swearing comes nowhere near that level of damage.

Also, the funny thing is, swearing IS “physically right.”

Well on forums there’s bound to be some arguments. Didn’t that cross your mind when you made this topic?

No. No it didn’t.

He said morally or physically.
