“One study found that swearing is not merely a common reaction to pain – it actually functions as a pain reliever, leading one psychologist to state: ‘I would advise people, if they hurt themselves, to swear’.”
But if the above is true than swearing is not always evil. Only “evil” when used excessively when you’re not in pain. It’s considered bad in most cultures and religions and who are we to argue with them?
Warning: I use swear words in real life, so this post might leave you butthurt.

I never said cursing every time words come out of your mouth is okay. Besides, if you’re really going to obsess yourself over whether or not it’s morally okay to curse or not and compete in the Flame War Olympics on some internet forum to prove a point that, if you’re lucky, maybe 3 or 4 people will care about, maybe you should think of picking up a hobby, or maybe leaving the house. That last sentence was not directed at just you, by the way. It was directed at almost everybody that has been arguing these past 4 pages or so. Why are you all so obsessed over this matter anyway? Either you curse or you don’t. Either you drink or you don’t. Either you play sports or you don’t. Either you believe in God or you don’t. Either you use a Mac or you use a PC. Either you’re circumcized or you’re not. Either you have an Xbox 360 or a PS3. You guys could argue over any of those topics, it doesn’t really matter. People are going to drink, play basketball, or use a PC whether or not some preacher on the internet tells them not to. So everyone who thinks this topic is serious business, I hope you have realized that all of your 5 paragraph rants mean absolutely nothing, and they always will. If you haven’t, well good luck in life. I hope you’re all having a fun time spending your time arguing over something as pointless as swearing. Good Day.
While someone like you might find something like swearing pointless, others turn completely red out of anger and look like they’re going to explode when people go “lol look I’m cussing”. They don’t find whether you cuss or not pointless, but the exact opposite. They will go to the extreme to prove the other person wrong. Go look up the having a bad day thread for historical context of what I mean.
Yes it really was. And of course I’m happy. I wish we could end this whole thread on that note, but we’ll just have to wait and see.
Oh, you mean that thread where there was about 5 or 6 pages (maybe even more of that) of you talking about your depression? I think I’ll pass. And if someone turns “completely red out of anger” when someone says a word, I would really hope that person never passes on their genes.
Now can’t we all just get along? I mean I know Starwars is probably going to blow up at me, but until then, I think this discussion is as pointless as it was when it started, so it really should just end.
