Woah people! I left this thread at 7:00 last night and I come back to find 4 more pages! jeez you guys post. I have a few things to say.
I assume that you are talking about me. Well I actually tried to keep religion out of this argument myself, but that really is the main reason people have not to swear in the first place, so I knew that people would bring it in eventually.
What about Porn? just because it doesn’t damage my body in any way, does that make it okay? That’s my point, which you missed. Swearing can be grouped with any kind of bad thing, even murder, by my original point. If you can come up with a cop-out that doesn’t make any sense like: “drinking is okay in moderation” or “smoking is okay if everyone else is doing it” or such, it can be grouped into the category of “a bad thing that everyone makes up an excuse for.” And swearing doesn’t effect you physically, i never said that. I said physically right because I had added on the drugs part to that sentence. I was just using it as a reference. However swearing and porn and murder may not hurt you physically, they do hurt you morally and spiritually. So yeah, I believe it ties into the bible. And salvation and all that crap. But really, the only reason I mention that is because it no longer ties into people’s regular beliefs like it used to. And I believe it should be a part of society’s belief that swearing is wrong, but it’s not anymore, except by the minority like me.
Oh, and @ Benzee. I lol’d at your sig just like everyone else. I found it funny how bastard isn’t even a cuss-word. And how the letter made no real sense…However I must point out that you missed quite a few.
And I think the real reason that the people who are chosing DC over me is not because he made a better post, nor a better argument (i’m not stating that mine was better, just on par). It’s because of my original point, you only defend swearing because you feel the need to defend yourself from the truth.
Lastly, If any other mod wants to lock this thread, be my guest. I don’t want to lock it thought because everyone will think that I just did it so that no one could respond or because I’m afraid. But seriously guys, 4 pages! This thread is out of hand.
