It could be either, the main notes of the riffs fit in both. In that arrangement (notice the adapted by Dustin Nagel part), the bass chords force it to be G minor.
Canon (and all rock versions of it) is in D major, but that’s epic.
but canon has the happy epic, a lot harder to accomplish than the serious epic.
