Unfinished Songs / Demos

The problem I have is that the test will have both melodic and harmonic dictation, and I suck at those.

Yeah, it would be hard to know if you were right without being able to play back what you’ve written.

I also have to sight read a song. And then sing it. The does not express my emotions enough.

Singing a scale goes beyond my range. I couldn’t sing to save the fate of humanity.

I started making this after a Styx concert I went to last night.
It’s not finished; I got to the part where the solo speeds up.
Feedback?

Usually I don’t share unfinished songs, but this one is already out there.

I’d love some nice criticism on the chorus. I know something is wrong.

Sounds pretty cool to me; Like just about every song mods (And Roastmasters, AND Fran5.) make.

Oh, And, I made another song, that was inspired by THEFinal boss’ new song; Edge of time.
Honest feedback!?

What should I change/edit/add-to, or fix?

EDIT: I did MOST of what you said, Thefinal, And it sounds alot better. I also added a few of my own stuff.

@isaiah (EDITED)
Good to know I inspired someone…

In sheet 8, the G-A combination doesn’t fit, yet for some reason when you do it in measures 4 and 5 of sheet 8 I like the effect.
No bass in Sheet 8; get to that. ← FIXED
I actually enjoyed most of it.
If anything, when the strat guitar is on the Low A, try to make it sound a little blended with the bass (since the bass has less breaks than the strat). Do that by either making it all sixteenth notes or making it all sixteenth-sixteenth-eighth.
Get rid of the Sheet 5 after sheet 7. ← FIXED
A little much of the Reverse Cymbals? Sheet 8 (Don’t get me wrong, they can sound good, it’s just they change so much it’s a little annoying.)
Lower the volume on the Metal Guitar and the Percussion or make the volume of the low strat louder; that’s an important part.
Keep Sheet 7 the same (unless you want to make the strat louder in it).
I really liked the effects.

Key:
Yellow = Good before
Cyan = Fixed
Red = Still not fixed

@Sandalman
The Chorus was good, but when you switched to the A-F-D chords, it started bad and got good.
I think for that, instead of making it A-D, A-D, A-D, make it F-D, F-D, F-D.
Make the E flats after that A flats to get a better effect.
Change the hi-hats up a bit; they get a bit boring after a bit.
Also, when the bass goes A Flat, B Flat, C, C, Make the first C, a B, or move the A flat, B flat forward one beat.
Good overall. Pretty boring Drum beat, but that’s the same with most songs.

What THE said, The drums are alittle too boring. Cool song, Though.

I edited my post, isaiah, for it now gives criticism on your edited version.

On the “Good before” parts; What’d I do wrong, Exactly?

Nothing, just compliments.

Yeah.

Sounded like hi-hats were randomly placed, but it’s still good nonetheless

Sup

Doing this because I lost the other song in this odd dichotomy (I was doing Dead Sound of Misery but I lost that so I’m doing Fly now)

Here’s a demo as a proof of not-dead-just-lazy-slash-busy and I’ll probably finish it sometime soon - or not, seeing as my GCSE’s are next month and I’ll be busy rev… ahahahaHAHAHAHahahah, ohohoho, no but seriously I really probably should be revising

Why is it that when you make a song the instruments sound real and not like it’s a midi?

Thats really a shame…

I really suck at this techno/dance/trance/ketchupyoshi/whatever genre.

That song was still really good.
