Yes i read through the whole thread from the start…it took at least 30 min…but i like this thread…
I didn’t know either…its not like its clearly stated when you start the program…just like when i found out how to make a note sharp or flat…took like 4 months -.-
Sheets 16, 15, 17, 18 in Revocation of Self is some high metal guitar XD
(this has already been stated now that i’ve read it all…)
I used them by accident XD
“The End” by me, it actually sounds better than you think…lol owned
Wikipedia much?
Also, acoustic guitar does sound very good with strings #2, but personally, i think the sound of it is nothing like an acoustic guitar…fail attempt
And referring to the very first post in this thread:
I love this idea, mainly because i really need to know about chord structures, how to construct them etc…btw i barely know what your meaning by octaves…so you might need to fill me in a bit…(and don’t laugh cause i don’t know about them i just use my ears when making a guitar piece.)
Notice that this thread is NOT about theory. It’s about how to maximize Notessimo 2’s effects to get the most out of each of your songs. I seriously hope it does not turn into a theory thread because then I will have no reason to come back.
Well I sincerely hope it doesn’t just stop there, 'cause then there wouldn’t be that much to talk about.
You’re right - while I don’t want this to turn into a theory thread (mostly because at a high level it becomes useless in composition and is more sort of for deconstruction of songs for analytical pBORING) it’d be nice to expand beyond [this instrument] + ([is good for]/[goes with]/[me likey likey]). For example, when me and Hypo were making “To eloquently splatter upon the retarded acronym”, essentially what it was was bunches of original riffs and phrases, presumably made up of outside of the main composition’s train of thought, which were then built up and improved upon then strung together by a small interlinking phrase which formed the backbone of the piece. Well hey, the general consensus was that it was good, so maybe there’s something to take away from that information? I mean, c’mon, you can see how retarded the general community is being about repetitiveness. That’s the kind of thing I want - sure, it’s a little about notessimo (the stuff about the instruments working together has been pretty useful so far), but I mostly wanted to make this guide about the construction of songs - like how people structure them, what kind of instruments are good for what kinds of phrases, how different people use different styles to write a riff, HOW to write a riff - that kind of thing.
When I said this thread wasn’t about theory, I meant I don’t want things like “Well yeah, you’ve used that subdominant fourth two syncopated beats to the right of the inverted seventh acciaccatura HAW HAW HAW I’M SO BRILLIANT 'CAUSE I KNOW THIS STUFF WATCH ME BE AMAZING AT LIFE”. People are entitled to that kind of knowledge, but this is a little game, not a commissioned work for the London bloody Philharmonic. Which is why I politely demanded that kind of stuff be kept out of the thread.
So this thread, so far, has been mostly about instrument combos, is there any chance anyone wants to divulge any thoughts about actually COMPOSING songs?
Do you mean like tips , or methods, or … what? Could you give me an example?
(quote)…mostly because at a high level it becomes useless in composition…(quote) coughallmysongscough
I like to do this effect, where you have 1 instrument playing any riff and another playing the same or a similar riff at 2 times speed. It sounds really cool in some cases
Good stuff so far, everyone - I’m probably gonna start working on the actual flash stuff now, to get a feel for how it’s gonna look and work when it’s done (new poll, gogogo)
Also, some suggestions for songs that use particular methods described in your posts would be handy (if you can’t though, don’t worry about it) so that I can link them in relation to the pages in the .swf (actual embedded sounds should probably be reserved for small examples of instruction)
