“I wasn’t sure what to think.” the boy replied.
“Yeah, well, that was part of Mr. Curtain’s plan. Y’see, he-” Before Kate could finish, the door was kicked down. Several grown men backed into the room, shooting out into the hall. One of them stopped to grab a botle from his side, chug it, then throw it at the wall. Constance screamed.
“What’s going on?!” I demanded. I looked for cover.
(Resurrection time!!!)
The four men back into the room. One of them turns to the five children in the room, while the other three shoot at things in the hallways. “Alright, listen up: You kids are in a dangerous situation, and we’re here to save you. That’s all I’ve got to say on the matter.” “Dempsey!” one of the other men yelled, “It’s a lot more complex zan zat!”
I was still confused from the commotion, but these men seem to know what they’re doing. “What can we do?” I asked, eager to help.
“Well, let’s put it this way: Unless you can use a gun good, you just need to stick with us. Oh, and one more thing: Your little maze, in the front door? We’re gonna need to try to get out that way…unless you know another way out of this deathtrap.”
I turned to the other kids, who stood close behind me.
“Well, we could easily get out that way. Sticky memorized the entire maze already,” Reynie said.
“Good to hear, kid,” the man replied. “Now, out, all of you.” They follow his command. They see the house overrun with zombies.
The sight was horrific. Blood was covering most of their dead skin. Their eyes were as pale as the moon, and they emitted a foul stench from within their husks.
“I think I’m gonna hurl,” Constance said. The men fired through the undead fiends and cleared a path to the stairs. “Nikolai, Takeo! You two take the back! Richtofen and I got the front!” the american guy said. They surrounded the children and protected them on their way down the stairs.
We eventually made it into the maze, the undead hot on our trail. One of the soldiers blew up the entrance with semtex, causing rubble to collapse and separate the zombies from us… for a while. Sticky directed us every step of the way toward the exit. The other kids didn’t seem to worry much, considering the circumstances, but that didn’t matter. We all knew we had to get out of here, and fast.
They left the maze, using the secret button to open the hidden door at the end. They all stepped out into daylight. “Vell, I’ll be,” the German said. “We have not ever made it out of one of those before,” the Japanese soldier added. “But…how could you-” Kate began. “It’s a long, complicated story. You vouldn’t understand,” the German retorted. “C’mon, let’s get them out of here,” the American said.
