I really liked your harpsichord work their Mister Hyde, but you ruined it with the guitars and drums… so my vote is no.

About QVX’s song, well, it’s a masterpiece of technique but it’s not really my kind of music. So I vote neither yes nor no.
I actually really liked the harpsichord song. It had a lot of ingenuity poured into it. I agree slightly with TFB about the metal guitar, but the song is hardly boring in any area, and all of the melodies and backgrounds mesh together well.
I vote yes, which would bring you to three for and three against, if we assume fran, nuse, and tfb’s posts were all votes.
Even though Apocalypse Overdrive is already featured, I did want to add my own input. It felt more like a cover than an original song, so it surprised me to not find a real version on the internet. Either way, it’s a well built song that I ended up liking, despite myself. Personally though, I still feel Mister Hyde’s song is better.
On hellion’s song:
I did think it was very good but it’s a no from me.
The main problem was it was very repetitive. I could really sum it up in just one sheet.
And I did think it could be polished more.

likelihood of getting featured = how long the longest person has been here/how long the user who made the song has been here
Seriously, it seems a good song by an older member of the notessimo community (and i’m just saying… im not bitchin about how often i get featured…just in case you were thinkin that) that has maybe the same mistakes as a newer member, but the newer member gets featured while the older member doesn’t get jack?
It shouldn’t matter! Quit basing off the relative age of the user! If you give a mouse a cookie, their only gonna ask for milk later, and then so on and so forth. If your doing it to encourage new users, they’ll only get hit hard later when none of their songs get featured AND then the newest user takes their place.

not the be the only device for choosing featured songs. Obviously new users are gonna post like crazy in here cause they’re all like “I WANTZ TEH FEATUREZ NAO!” Older users I don’t think will post in here cause they have their own threads AND if they’re like me, have lost faith in their songs ever getting noticed in this thread…
I do realize older users don’t make very many songs nowadays, and some when they do everyone’s like “INSTA FEATURE” no matter how boring, random, ect. it is. But I guess I’m saying mods… I know you guys are doing your job as well as you can… but…
YOU DON’T NEED A NEW FEATURED SONG EVERY FREAKING WEEK!
Use a bit more discretion, look a bit harder, and give it to the songs that truly do reflect the home page…
Not the most technical song, not the song with the coolest chord progression, not the song with the coolest hi hat effect, not that song that has that one cool riff.
BUT BEAUTIFUL IN ALL ASPECTS!
It should sound amazing, but also be good in theory too. I guess if you go off this really we would only have a handful of featured songs, but I would be fine with those, cause those are the songs I would listen to over and over and rate 5 like almost every day, not that one time and then go back to rate them down cause they are really only worth like a 4.1 or 4.2…
Featuring i think though, should have never came to notessimo… We don’t make enough feature worthy songs to keep up with how often people would like to see featured songs change. The featured songs system is pseudo-newgrounds, and really doesn’t work well here, cause we have such a small base of people here.
Its only caused people to get pissed, people to abuse the system (which doesn’t really happen anymore though), and people to zero bomb songs that don’t deserve it.
There you go, most of like six months worth of frustration with this site simplified into one post.
I almost entirely agree with you Kam. However, some points to note out.
We’ve made many simple rules that are easy to follow on Notessimo. However, many are broken. Some official, some not.
For example,
George C. Lan View has 2 featured songs (which I don’t think Concluding deserves one anyway…)
Threads change. A Notessimo Song thread was changed pretty fast too. It used to be orderly listed in turns of groups where each group made a part. However, it was broken up (What the hell, guys?) and now there’s really no entire structure. Just a list you can join whenever you want to.
You missed my amendment to that rule. The limit is now 3. Mostly because Muse had two incredible songs to be featured, and then George jumped on it.
I do agree with you kam. But the mods have nothing to do with featuring songs, all it takes is two/three votes from anybody.
You know, I think it should be something entirely different.
-A limit of 3 songs per week featured; these will be “Songs of the Week.”
-1 song per month that is considered the “Song of the Month.”
-Songs of the Week nominated / posted in here. 3 votes will make for a song feature. The first negative vote takes down 2 votes, and the rest take 1 down.
Voting Rights:
-Must have a Song Thread
-Mods have no extra rights in this
Song of the Month:
-1 Song per month, in a different thread
-Nominations take place 1 week BEFORE the month ends
-Nominations are given by anybody but the person who made the song
-3 votes must be acquired for a full nomination. All negative votes are -1.
-Full nominees will be posted in the new thread’s poll
-Votes then are taken for 1 week. The song of the month is then known.
-Tiebreakers are done by certain users who do not have a song in the nomination. Mods will be the usual.
Voting Rights:
-Anybody who has posted before in relevancy.
-Must have a Song Thread to have a Song of the Month
-Limit of 1 Song of the Month Nomination per Person.
==This means I cannot nominate two songs in one month

I believe we became a little bit to lenient during the rule changes… I say we should change it to 4 votes if you suggest your own song. We also need a time limit on when no one decides to vote, if 2/3 people vote yes, and no one posts for that 4th vote (down or up), could we just feature it anyways after a week?
And I still think limits on songs per week don’t work with this site. The sit isn’t popular enough for that. On some weeks, we have only 1 song that is feature worthy, and on others we have 10. I love the “song of the Month” idea, though.
why do we need to be constantly changing the feature system? we live in a small community, we don’t really need featured songs anyway as long as it has a good review from someone. To the new users, sure it will be on the front page and will get over a hundred views, but what does that do? well the answer is… nothing, sure you can probably accurately depict how good your song is from the rating but thats just a number, given from people of backgrounds you don’t even know of. Plus you don’t even know how to improve yourself from that number, since you can only make guesses. Sure you may get some people from the “undercommunity” of notessimo to comment and talk about the song, but most of the time the feed backs tend to be non critical and can lead you to believe that your music is perfect and flawless (which is a wrong attitude to think about your songs). I say just post in the regular song forums, it doesn’t make us spend our time bickering and argumenting childishly about your song, and there is a much more likely chance of getting a more mature, and in depth review from one of our forum members. Which can help you succeed and improve with your music. To the older notessimo’goers, stop constantly changing and shifting the way songs are featured, and trying to find a way that will work perfectly, because that way does not exist, there are always flaws, mistakes, and imperfections in almost every plan. So what am I saying from all of this? simple, don’t try and put endless restrictions on the way songs are featured, and stick with 1 single plan in which to modify.
We haven’t found the “democracy” of featured song politics… Or, at least, not one that doesn’t require one of us to be an admin, plus we all love song views.
We aren’t going for a perfect system, we just want something that isn’t a dictatorship/communist/other-bad-political-state, which we accidentally created. The original system worked great, but no one gets on anymore, so that system doesn’t work anymore.
And my songs are flawless

And if we aren’t going for a perfect system then why do we keep changing the way it works (or suggesting changes).
I don’t see anything worth being butt hurt about the current system (just a few problems that need ironing out, and just ironing out, not starting another one from scratch) for it to be called something like dictatorship/communist/other-bad-political-state (seriously these things don’t relate to the system).
It’s not like we do anything else on this site.
The reason is that it doesn’t work. It’s either we be really lenient and have everything be featured, or be harsh, making not so nothing can get enough votes to be featured. For some reason, or system doesn’t have a middle ground. we need to fix that.

Because after getting a review from Star, it was the best possible accomplishment on this site. Now, its just a little bit to easy. Its the 3rd best thing at this moment.
