Wow, you’d think I’d have noticed this forum before.

Anyway, ok. So, I’ve seen a lot of people try and make this song. Granted, it is hard, but jeez people, that means you have to try harder to make it sound better. Some people are not trying hard enough, or some people just can’t make this song. That’s ok, I’m not pointing fingers of blame at people, I just wanted share a few tips about making this song.

  1. There are no chords on the accoustic part at the beginning. Where are all these harmonics coming from? There aren’t any in the real song.
  2. What is with the key? Doesn’t anyone know what key the song is in? For the intro, it starts on C. C D Eb C D Eb F C G C F C Eb C D B. Refer to link below.
  3. Every note counts. This isn’t one of those songs where you can put say, 1 eighths instead of four in then slow it down. It doesn’t work on this one.
  4. If you’re trying to remake the song well, it helps to study it well. Seriously, don’t go putting in big other crazy parts, if you’re going to add in, say, an extra riff, keep it simple. And if you know the song well, try and stick by the way it goes, as opposed to, say going into a high pitched section when it should be a low pitched section. And try to figure out where all the parts go. It won’t do to leave any out or put them in the wrong place, now, would it?
  5. Try your hardest. Like I mentioned before, this is a hard song, so don’t give it some half-assed attempt. Approach it with vigor and enthusiasm.

I’m not criticising anyone here, because, the songs are all quite good, they’re just not there yet.

Also, I had a try at making the intro and half a verse. I’ll had to it later, I’m (maybe) going to try and finish the whole song. It still needs some fine tuning and a few more parts, but I’m pleased with the result so far.

EDIT: Also, I forgot to mention that I did this pretty much from memory. I know that a few parts are quite different, it’s not that I didn’t try to do them the right way, I just forgot how they went. xP

you’re quite amazing at this making songs business and that was a great song much better than some of the crap some people put on here (such as the 10 yr olds posting things called “the most awesomest song ever” etc) again amazing stuff keep up the good work

Wow… that was a huge bump.

Well, seeing as the topic is now back to the front page, I may as well let you all know how I’m doing with the song.

Got up to about the first bridge, which doesn’t have any drums, but the rest of what I’ve done is complete.

By the rate I’m working at, should have the whole song in, I dunno, a week? Then I’ll get hypercam and get this site a few more thousand hits.
