Unfinished Songs / Demos

Yeah, I got kind of bored…

I’m mostly just trying to figure out what to add in and take out and what to emphasize. The acoustic isn’t the bass, but it isn’t the lead either; it’s more like something that’s just supposed to be in the background. In any case, I try to extend these types of ideas because they’re a feeling from the time I started throwing stuff together in notessimo- hence the repetition and the elaboration to come.

That said, does anyone have suggestions of what to put in? I’ve considered taking out the fade in for awhile now. Think I’ll do so.

@GuitarMania: Interesting idea you have going there, though the changes are too sudden.

What y’ know 'bout sports?!

Edit- Just realized that notessimo changed some of the notes i placed - AGAIN! :’(

The transition to sheets 7-8-9-8 was much cleaner this time, good job.

I have a hard time believing this isn’t a rock theme. Sure, the drumming is fast and odd enough to be techno, but the combination of the metal guitar, male vox, and strings (of any sort) all suggest rock, even heavy rock. And because the Nice has become a trademark of yours, it’s more of an expected thing, which means it has less impact on the actual song. Besides, it’s just a background instrument, whereas you are clearly trying to dazzle us with your incredible drumming. The grind in the beginning is exactly that, grind. This leads to a more experimental feel overall, but also leads to a much heavier feel. The use of toms isn’t common in techno music. And I’ll be darned if the great transition in sheets 10-11-12-13 is heavy rock. In essence, the only slightly electronic thing in this whole song is the orchestral hit, and that plays such a small role in moving the song along that it isn’t even a background instrument.

Okay now that we’ve sorted out the genre of this song, I wanted to say the same about your acclaimed song, “Get Hammered.” This song is much more electronic than this song, however I would still label it as being at least a techno/rock mix. Sure, the beginning drums are definitely techno. But once the bass comes in, the drums kick into a much heavier beat, and even though the bass you choose can be used for techno, it is used in such a way to make it heavy and more rock-ish. Again, present in that riff is a small techno aspect (this time an actual synthesizer) that doesn’t play a huge role other than as a transition. However, because it is so much faster, I can say it has the right elements of a techno song, but it just doesn’t feel like one.

Obviously, the genre you place a song into has no actual effect on the quality of the songs, I have no doubt that these two will be on the featured list for a while. The only real reason for stating these is that you claimed to be a techno artist, but while you have a lot of technical skill, your work is hardly techno. Compare yourself to Karo. Both you two are great composers (although I would rank you above him), but his work is definitely techno. Again, this wasn’t really intended as insult, it’s just me over-analyzing everything. Keep up the good work.

PRO TIP: If you don’t see a Sharp or Flat sign appear next to the note when you place it as either, Notessimo will not save that the note was placed as a sharp or flat. This is only present on the four notes that have actual notes for sharps or flats (B and E have C and F for sharps instead of B# or E#, and C and F have B and E as flats instead of Cb and Fb. Note that while you can technically call them that, properly they should just be the actual note). So while it is possible to place a B#, E#, Cb, and Fb in Notessimo, it will save them as being the regular notes (meaning whether you save and reload the song, or share it). To avoid this, simply place these notes as they are originally intended, B# on C, etc.

If anything i’d say it’s drum and bass although i do see how that can be compared to rock in certain instances:P
I realize that some of the music ive oploaded doesnt really fit into the techno genre, but the reason why i said earlier that im a techno artist is because ive been making music for years outside notessimo - all of which was electronic.

As for the notes thingy, thanks a lot! Hopefully this will put an end to my endless struggle with notessimo chaning my notes XD

Edit - also, who’s karo?

Here’s his thread: viewtopic.php?f=6&t=57187

The songs to listen to are in blue, but the only one that ever got featured was Ballistics. She was a recent user who suddenly went inactive. ALL she did was techno.

EDIT: One thing I would like to say that you two have in common, you recycle a lot of things in your songs. This made Karo’s style become stale after a while. Take care you aren’t affected the same way.

Are you placing any sharps on B or E? That doesn’t work with Notessimo, so just move those to C or F.

Oh, and I had to write a song for Music Theory, But When I printed it off, It printed off an old version

Guess from what song is this part XDD
FUC#! Tempo is 200 XD

Oh, and by the way, just because i concider myself an electronical music artist doesnt mean i cant make music of other genres:P
Electronic music is the style i feel most comfortable with though:)

I can definitely tell you’d make for a good electronic artist, but personally I don’t like too much techno because it almost always sounds the same to me. I do like techno, but when it’s different.

Again, I wasn’t really insulting you, I was just making a statement based on something I had noticed about you. There wasn’t much point in it, not really. So don’t take it the wrong way. You music is incredibly fun to listen to.

No no, i wasnt concidering it as an insult at all! On the controary its actually kind of nice that someone take their time to analyse me and what im doing. It means that people are showing interest in what im doing - which is rather surprising to me concidering im still conciderably new to the site and that i have made so few tracks:)
I guess what im trying to say is that its weird for me having made electronic music for years and then suddenly being called a rock artist:P

You’re one of the best though! Swamp Creatures is still getting stuck in my head to this day.

Karo, was a…active member who before November was unknown as she had multiple accounts. When she made the account Karo, no-one knew of her previously being here so she seemed to just come and go. But yes she was extremely active for those 2-3 months making songs left right and centre. Really great friend We also did 2 collabs in that time which worked out really well (Keep in mind star did actually tell me about her and because of that i helped karo with drumming by giving suggestions of different ways of drumming etc. (which is how the first collab happened))

Also…with the genre problem, i think i would class it as experimental or electronic rock (yes there is such a genre (like when pendulum featured in flames in the song “self vs self”)) but this is more rockish than techno…but its still a mix of the 2 genres and i like it

Huh. I never knew Karo was a girl.

Also:

This is what I classified Hellstick’s songs as. A combination of both genres. Again, the genre has no effect on the quality of the song, which in this case is excellent. I think Drum’n’Bass is a good definition actually.

Then why did your other post say She? XD

Yeah, except it’d be more like Drum’n’Bass’n’MetalGuitar

Dude, have you ever looked at your rank on this site?

This is our list.

You are in the 4th tier.
I am in the 6th.

In fact, you are way near the top.

In other words, YOU’RE WINNER.

Dam, I just noticed I’m not in the list. (Besides that “all other” thing.)
I guess I’m no good. opens the door and leaves

Gah, whatever.

forgets to close the door

In fact i have. And although it’s ofcourse a big compliment that someone as recognized as roastmasters approve of what i do its not an official list as he himself states in the verry same post you quoted:P
I dont take the list as serious as some other members of this site do - although i still appreciate being on there:P

That is definitely not our list. No doubt that Hellstick is good, but don’t judge him by a list made by one member, last updated in August.

That one member is Roast.

That’s like saying Bach’s opinion on music isn’t fact.

(No, really. In fact, music theory is based off of his music.)
Let’s move anymore conversation to the list’s thread.
